Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.
Name: Rose Witt

Birthday: July 13

Hometown: Oxford

Bloodline: Halfblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one): Divination

Year (pick two): 1, 3

Biography:
Rose was born to Anne and Scott Witte, the co-owners of a little bookstore in Oxford.

When she was five years old, Rose proclaimed to her parents that she "liked books better than people." Growing up surrounded by aged parchment, she learned to read at a young age, and promptly devoured every book she could find. Living in a bookstore, that meant a lot of books.

Since both of her parents were muggle-borns, they enrolled their little girl in the local muggle elementary school. There, she had a tough time making friends. She hid behind the pages of tomes that looked like they weighed more than she did, reading rather than socializing. Despite her shyness, she was a kind and sweet little girl who had no problems speaking with adults.

Then, when she was eight, disaster struck. A fire, of unknown origin, destroyed her parents bookstore and the flat above. She and her mother were trapped inside the bookstore when the fire began. Trapped between flammable bookshelves, Rose barely made it out of the store. Her mother, wasn't so lucky. That night left her motherless, homeless, and scarred both mentally and physically. The already shy girl became more withdrawn. She stopped wearing short sleeve dresses, choosing instead to hide the angry red scars. The thoughts of flames caused her nightmares, and even the sight of a candle could spook her.

In the years following the incident, she and her father became even closer. Homeless and without a source of income, the duo was forced to move to London, and her father got a job with the Ministry.

Rose barely spoke, and had few interpersonal relationships, which worried her father. So, he enrolled her in ballet. She attacked the dance classes with rigor, and quickly excelled thanks to her hard work. Ballet became an outlet for her, and soon she blossomed.

By the summer of her eleventh birthday, she was still shy and quiet, but much less so. She was a brilliant dancer, who still loved to read, with long and lean muscles. When her letter for Hogwarts came, just as she knew it would, she was excited to learn all she could about magic, but terrified that she would no longer be living with her father.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request: Ravenclaw

Personality:
Shy and fiercely intelligent, Rose loves books. She devours them, and rarely is seen without one under her arm. She can be quiet, but once she starts talking she has a penchant for rambling. All of the books she has read have given her a large vocabulary and a lot to talk about, if anyone would listen.

Rose is terrified of many things, especially fire. Being trapped in one can do that to you. If she so much as smells smoke, she begins to panic. The fire also left her with insecurities about her arms. Covered in angry red scar tissue, she doesn't want anyone to see them, for fear that they will run away.

Rose likes to dream big, and will work tirelessly to achieve her goals. Beside her bed is a checklist of goals, both long term and short term, that she reminds herself of every morning. She always receives a wonderful sense of fulfillment when she crosses something off of the list. Whenever she finds a new goal, she makes it a checklist and works tirelessly, researching in as many books as she possibly can, until that dream has been reached.

Appearance:
Rose is small and slender, with blonde hair that falls just past her shoulder in loose, messy waves. Her grin is wide and infectious, and despite her buck teeth, she wears it often. She always wears long sleeved shirts to hide the scars that she received from the fire that killed her mother. No one has seen the angry red burns that even magic couldn't heal, and Rose likes to keep it that way. The long sleeves also hide the muscles on her arms. An avid dancer, the small girl who stands at just under four feet has developed strength in her few years of training. Her entire body is covered in long and lean muscles, not that you could tell by glancing at her.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Option 1

Rose enjoyed Quidditch, but hadn't made it to the game. It was the third anniversary of her mother's death, and she couldn't bring herself to be around merriment today. How could all of those people be so happy and alive when she was dying inside?

Today she needed to be alone. Wandering around the halls while fiddling with the long sleeves of her shirt, she hoped to take her mind off of her mother. She was failing, of course, but at least no one could see her cry. With a red nose, bloodshot eyes, and hot tears sliding down her face, Rose was not in the mood for company.

Her eyes were so clouded that she didn't notice that the new corridor she had just entered was not unoccupied.

"WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!" A very dirty second-year boy yelled at her. She blinked her own tears away to size him up. He too had tears in his eyes, although they were more tears of anger and shame. Rose was an expert in crying and could read the subtle nuances that defined one's tears. Mud and sweat covered muscle, although two tracks of tears were starting the difficult job of cleaning his face. Using her excellent powers of deduction, she figured out that he was a player on the losing Quidditch team.

The shy blonde did not enjoy being yelled at, and before she could stop herself, her short temper had her respond in kind. "It's a Quidditch match!" she cried out, crossing her arms. "Who cares? Ten years from now, no one will remember who lost and who won."

"Besides," her voice grew lower, her earlier fire diminishing. She wiped away her own tears with one hand, most of the fight gone from her. "There are worse things to lose than a Quidditch match."
