Biography:
If you are applying to be a first, second, or third year, your biography must be at least one hundred words long.
If you are applying to be a fourth year or above, your biography must be at least three hundred words long.

Ariel Rivera had always been a rather patient girl. So, if someone sat down beside her and started to talk, she would listen, even if they were a complete and total stranger.

Her dainty little mouth would open slightly in wonder as she took it all in. They always had interesting stories to tell, of adventure and heartbreak and romance and triumph. And afterwards she would just sit there and wonder how people became so interesting.

Ariel was born in a farm in Kansas to two muggleborns, Ace and Australia. It was not a particularly small farm, or big one, for that matter. Ariel was in charge of brushing the horses and cows, making sure they got their exercise, and feeding the pigs. Was it her favorite thing, no. Her brothers always ended up doing all of the real grunt work.

Speaking of her brothers, Ariel had always believe she got extremely luck in the sibling department. She was born smack-dab in the middle, the third of five children. She had two older brothers, Ace and Abe, and two younger ones, Arik and Adam. She was the only girl, and while others in her predicament would complain, she loved it. There was no sharing of clothes and she was he only one who got her own room.

Ariel's younger years included riding ponies (for she has just grown tall enough to ride a full-grown horse, and they don't even own the farm anymore), working, and playing. Farm life was humble and hard, but it paid off.

When she was eleven It was time to go to Salem, and she suddenly became incredibly homesick, even though her older brothers were there. She missed her mother's singing as she washed the dishes, the rumble of her father's tractor, and her younger brothers. She cried and she cried and she cried. All the other children did was make fun of her.

After the first month she had stopped crying, but still, no one wanted to be her friend.

For three years she went to Salem, bullied and ignored. Her favorite time of year was the holidays, when she got to go to home sweet home. At the end of her third year, her father got a letter saying his ex-wife had died and he needed to care for her two children.

So they moved to London, and Ariel was happy. She's looking forward to going to Hogwarts and getting a brand new start.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Anything but Hufflepuff. I have too many of them on other sites.

Personality: Ariel is dainty. She prefers not to do too much hard work, and basically wants everything to be perfect. She's hardworking in the sense that when things are not perfect she strives to make them be. Sensitive and delicate, Ariel's feelings are easily hurt, but she's taught herself not to cry. Highly curious, the young girl is always asking questions. Really, Ariel is kind and compassionate and wishes nothing but the best for everyone.

Appearance: Ariel has wavy chestnut brown hair that reaches her chest. She had electric blue eyes and pale skin. Ariel stands at only five foot one- some of the firsties are even her height. She's kept up her physical health by working on the farm. Ariel normally wears a small hairpin to keep her hair out of her eyes. Very practical, she never dresses to show-offy.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below. OPTION 2

Ariel should have been doing her homework or something, but she wasn't. Not that she was lazy or on a rebellious streak, no, Ariel was quite the opposite. It was just that she was busy.

She was knitting a blanket for her new half-sibling and stomping her feet to the tune of a song as she worked. (New as in their parents never got along and she had never seen them.) She liked the dungeons. It was quiet and others rarely bothered her down there. She got a lot more done down there.

Sure, it was dark, but so was their old house. Their primary source of light was the sun, and when it went down it was time to sleep. And if for some reason they had to stay up late, they only got one candle. It was damp, but their storm cellar was, too, and that was always comforting.

"H-h-hello?" Someone or something said.

Shivers traveled up Ariel's back. She had heard stories of ghosts and had even seen a few. A ghost lurking in the dark was surely up to no good, right? But the ghost sounded fairly timid, scared, even, so she decided not to worry.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?" They continued.

Ariel's eyebrows shot up slightly. She knew about Emma Birch from a few older girls. (She had been eavesdropping, but shh, don't tell anyone) It was quite alarming, really. "Nope, no Emma Birch here." She reported cheerfully.

Ariel cursed as she remembered that they were twins. It was hard to remember because they were different genders and fraternal. She started to work more furiously, but then remembered something: two is better than one. "Hey, do you know how to knit?" She questioned.

Hello ^_^  oh my goodness, Ariel grew up on a farm! I don't know why that thrills me so much, it just does.

I love how your application is coming along, I just want to get your thoughts on a few things and clarify another:

You mention that Ariel is a muggleborn - having both a muggle father and mother, but in the listing you put halfblood. If both parents were muggles then Ariel is a muggleborn and some additional explanation would need to be included regarding how all her siblings were also magically inclined and how their parents knew to send their children to Salem.

Also, I am guessing that Ariel's birth year falls around 1932. If both parents were in deed muggles than they would both have disappeared in 1937, when the Time-Warp occurred, well before attending her first year at Salem in 1943ish. Just keep that in mind, because it definitely has a bearing on her story. Now if one of her parents was actually a halfblood/pureblood, then Ariel would be Halfblood and her siblings would be as well, so fewer alterations would need to be made to Ariel's biography.

Oooh, a move to London! My gosh, so now her father is caring for seven children, five from his second wife and two from a previous! I feel for him. If you end up sticking to most of your biography, including only how the Time-Warp affected the family dynamic by the loss of a single parent, how is Ariel taking to her new half-siblings?

I can't wait to see your additions to Ariel's biography! You can simply reply to this thread to make the edits to your application and we will be happy to take another look!

Hey! When I was little I always wanted to live on a farm, but then we took a trip to one in third grade and I was like, naw. I thought it would be fun to have Ariel live on one.

I think there might be a bit of confusion about Ariel's parents. I mentioned them being muggleborn, not muggles, so she would be half blood, right? Thus making her grandparents being the ones that were gone, and she must've been quite young and doesn't even remember them.

As for Ariel's half siblings, she's taken to them well. She misses the farm, yes, but they lost their mother so she can't be too mad.

Let me know if I need to make any changes!
