Biography: (300 words minimum.)
A fumbling mess, she has always been a fumbling mess of near-success. Asmanda studied at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry throughout her entire student life and was a proud member of Slytherin, although that was mostly just to fit in with the rest of her house rather than her actually being proud of being recognized as cunning and manipulative. She was a flustered girl right up through, rarely making friends and always being seen as the awkward girl who didn’t really fit in but she tried – sometimes too hard.

She hadn’t managed to find her true calling whilst she was at Hogwarts, sure she may have had a calling for the three practical schools of magic but she didn’t feel any desire to make any pushes for a career. She didn’t know what she wanted to be, in a way she just wanted to be what everyone else expected of her.

Shortly after graduation she entered a store in Diagon Alley, the man behind the counter released a sigh of relief and quickly invited her behind the counter – believing she was his new employee who had been late to arrive.

She went along with it, she didn’t know why but she did – she pretended to be this other person and suddenly she was filled with confidence that wasn’t her own, she played the part successfully. By the end of the day she was already getting used to the new person she had seemingly become, but it wasn’t enough for her – she began to ponder.

Was it this easy to become what someone else wanted?

After emptying the cash register of all the coins she could carry she quickly slipped out of the door whilst no-one was looking and disappeared into the day with a newly filled coin purse. It became a habit for her and she quickly became a con artist and thief, it took her a while to master the subtle art of pick pocketing and lifting people’s coin purses but she eventually managed to succeed.

The con means more to her than just an easy way to get money; she is able to become another person, even if it is just for five minutes.

Of course there are down sides to her life style, the most dominant of which being that whilst her job was to con people out of their coin – it was other people’s job to catch her for her crimes.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

It was impossible for Dianne to stay out of trouble. It wasn't that she was looking for trouble, it's just that trouble always managed to find her. Today she wished she could find something equally familiar but more comforting.

The five-year old girl hugged her puffskein closer to her and brushed her face in its soft fur for comfort. She had named him herself and he was always her special pet. No she was certain she had never gone down this side street before. Her anxiety increased every second as darkness fell as she walked down the road. A loud noise came to her left and she buried her face in her pet's fur completely. The scared girl bolted the opposite way slamming the both of them into the wall of the nearest building. Tottering back a few steps she found a door a few feet to her right and ran to open it. What light there was inside spilled out into the darkness and she spilled into the room.

Once in, she was caught between the impulse to curl her cloak up more tightly around her and loosen her grip on it. She wasn't alone anymore but she was now among strangers instead, which was nearly as terrifying. Her puffskein had recovered from the shock of the wall and now was purring contentedly as the girl hugged it, causing a mildly calming effect on the girl. Gathering her courage, she marched up to the nearest person, pulled on the nearest clothing hem and blurted out in a loud voice:

"I'm lost and it's dark and I wanted to know where I am but I'm not scared but I am worried that Sambundeakin is scared because he's little and needs something to eat and wants to go home."

She paused to draw a breath in her nearly never-ending sentence, "He misses my and his mommy."

To explain the scared girl held up the custard-colored puffskein. Sambundeakin the puffskein, however simply purred as if nothing on earth was wrong in the world.

Roleplay Response:
One of the absolute best places to find work, local bars and taverns. This was where Asmanda was heading tonight, she didn’t have the patience to tackle a larger con tonight and was just willing to accept money from the drunken men who were foolish enough to challenge her to a game of cards. There was no harm in it, she gave them some attention and then cheated to ensure that she could walk away with their money – it was a fair trade, it was always a fair trade.

She smiled confidently as she approached a couple on the street, as she got within range she tripped herself over a loose brick in the pathway and fell against the man of the couple. “Oh, so sorry.” She muttered in rushed and hectic apologetic tones, continuing on the path with her smile still very much in place. Once she had turned the corner, she stopped and pulled out the coin purse that she had just lifted from the passerby.

“Sixteen Galleons?” she scoffed, disappointed with her lift. It would have to do for now, it was enough to at least start a betting game in the tavern.

She opened the door and entered, holding her coat in her arms after having pulled it off at the door. She was wearing a red dress, just by looking around the room she could tell that – perhaps – she had overdressed for this crowd.

Without warning, a child had grabbed onto her. She put her arms up in defence, at first thinking it was another investigator coming to arrest her (or rather, attempt). Children always made Asmanda nervous, their innocence allowed them to see past her disguises and it was a threat to her game to be that exposed.

“Yes, yes, shh, yes.” She quickly tried to cover up the little girl’s mouth, she wanted to hit this scene tonight and didn’t want to be seen with a child – it severely damaged her calm. “Okay! Okay. Just stop, we will go and find her... just put that thing down.”

She would have to help the child out before she could do any work tonight, perhaps she would chose to simply go back to her room for the evening. The encounter with the child was more than enough to throw her off of her game, it was something about the innocence.
