Biography:
Arabella's dad left her mom the morning after their night together. He was a handsome and wealthy man—Charles Higgs—and even though he was way older and way more frightening than her mom, he promised her a better life. He promised her love.

And unfortunately, nineteen-year-old Cassandra believed in that, and ended up alone; an outcast of society, with a wizard's baby in her tummy. Nine months later precisely, Arabella was born in a barn, just outside of London, and raised in a small townhouse while her mother worked day and night to give her precious daughter a good life.

It only lasted for eight years, though, when a terrible incident involving a bridge and what seemed like a better option ended up taking her mother away. Arabella was handed over to the local orphanage, where she lived for nearly three years before she got that one letter that would change her life forever.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request:
It doesn't matter, choose whichever one you think fits her best.

Personality:
Arabella used to be cheerful; a carefree child who thought the life of struggles she lived was just normal, until the police knocked on her door, told her her mom was dead, and took her away from her home. Then, Arabella wasn't so carefree anymore—she was furious; all her sorrow being pushed away and pent up into anger instead.

If she wasn't mad, she was quiet and reserved, refusing to make contact with anyone other than the stray cat just outside the orphanage. And if she wasn't screaming at the top of her lungs, she was crying herself to sleep. In secret, of course.

But Arabella is nice deep inside, and she never truly means to hurt anyone. She stands up for the people who cannot stand up for themselves, likes to work hard and achieve things, but mostly she enjoys seeing the look on authorities' faces when she does something she's not supposed to do.

Appearance:
The head lady at the orphanage would always tell Arabella how pretty she would be if it wasn't for the constant frown she wore, or the deadly look in her light brown eyes. But Arabella didn't care if she was pretty or not—to be honest, she'd rather look scary than nice. That's why she went as many days as possible without brushing her long, dirty blonde hair, and took advantage of the way her sharp browbones created eerie shadows when she tilted her head forward a bit. And she was tall, which was good when she had to tower over people.

But the girl had no physical strength, and her limbs were slim and pale from not eating enough. So starting brawls with the other kids, or even the adults were never an option—she wasn't stupid, after all.

And she made sure everyone around her knew that.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Option 1 reply:

Arabella was angry. Furious, even.

In all her eleven years of living, she had only been this mad twice before; when Mom died, and when a bully said the death of her mom was her fault. Arabella blinked back tears at the memory. It wasn't her fault. But now, a stupid boy had lied in front of everyone, had tricked Arabella and have her make a fool of herself. In front of everyone.

Scared that she'd end up hurting him, and possibly getting expelled, she ran away from the laughing kids. Of course, she would never do that at home—at home, she would stand up for herself—but there were so many of them. And everyone were laughing...

She shook her head, dirty blonde curls flying around her face—realizing how lost she was. She hadn't thought about where she was going, just turned corner after corner, slammed doors shut behind her. And now, well, now she was in a damp and cold corridor. The dungeons, she remembered, just as she heard a small voice.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The words bounced off the walls in a creepy manner, which had Arabella freeze in place. Her thin arms went around her instinctively, as she dried her angry tears and cleared her throat to answer.

"No, but Arabella Dawlish is."
