Mr. Hawksworth,

Thank you for your kind reply and request, and please let my apologize for the bad RP mistake that I made. I was on a conference call at the time and also trying to type up that quickly after reading it since I figured I would have no time after the call lol! :) I have always loved the name Emma, so the name just stuck out in my mind. lol

Below, I have provided the "correct" RP response and also an expansion of the Bio of Desmond. With the bio, I didn't expand too much on his history because I was worried of providing too much to read, so I paired it down. :) Also, for the RP, I simple just replaced Emma with the correct name of Evangeline and expanded only slightly. I figured, this would be easier than taking control of Evangelina who could correct Des on his misunderstand of what Evangeline was and why she was looking for a GHOST named Emma, which would likely pull Desmond in, since he has never seen a ghost before! :)

Corrected RP Response:

Option 1:

Coming around the corner after being startled by a booming voice from a girl who was shouting the requested presence of Ms. Emma Birch. Desmond, red in the face, inched from the shadows and bowed heavily, “Please excuse me, miss; my name is Desmond Wright, an’ I was walking the halls down here. My deepest sorry for startling you, if I had... I was simply exploring the grounds, and dark frightful areas sometimes hold the most interesting secrets. I have also found, that when I am scared – I sometimes am able to be more aware of the interesting things around! Kind of funny, but I learn more when scared.” Trying to be polite, he chuckled into the air and rolled his shoulders. Placing his hands into the air, he showed her that he was holding nothing of any danger to her; just a blank paged journal and pencil. “This was a gift from a good friend of mine, Mr. Charles McCloud, owner of the ‘Letters and Books’ bookstore in Dublin eastside.”

Starring at the ground and with curled shoulders, he waited for Evangeline to respond. Hoping she would not find him strange, he yearned to share the many things he had found so far while exploring the wide open grounds of Hogwarts School; all written or drawn down, of course.

Further Expansion on Bio:

Desmond’s father’s name is James Wright, and is of Pure Blood lineage while the Mother is of Muggle born with no natural magic skills of her own. The couple came together by the persistent courting of James who spoke words of love, care, and hope into Esther’s ears and heart. Being that Esther never new a life of income security or popular status in the community, she was pulled along easily by James. With his romantic promises so alluring, she fell straight into the fantasy that such a handsome and well-dressed man would take care of her and their family for the rest of their lives. Sadly, soon after showing, James was struck with panic at having to have actual responsibility and fled from their lives with no notice. While heart broken, Esther knew that their child still needed to be cared and loved, so she stuck to her responsibility of being a loving mother to her child and teach him how to never run from responsibility; especially when he too was to become a father.

James Wright is the second child of the Mystical Wright Family of Dublin, a heritage that was given incentive to move from their historical roots of England for Ireland fifty years prior. The mother’s name is Catherine Wright and the father is Wilson Wright. The family’s other son, Williamston Thistleroot Wright, is the eldest child by two years. While James was successful in courting and making a child with Esther, both of the men were deeply attracted to the striking woman. However, being that James was always the less bridled younger brother, Esther was taken in by the honeyed words James whispered to her. Even though pained by this rush in, Williamston always stayed around the edges of their affair and waited for an opportunity for him to pick up the pieces when James was finished having his spontaneous fun.

After Desmond was born and James had already faded from the scene, Williamston was going to make a sweeping appearance but decided, after seeing the fierce feminist strength of Esther, to only provide the slightest assistance. She was strong and a beautiful woman, and when she passed away Desmond was not the only person whose heart was crushed.

Though Desmond was without a guardian, Williamston made sure to guide the young man through life and careers, and helped lead Desmond to the door step of the bookstore Williamston owned. Giving Desmond general labor employment, Williamston was able to provide Desmond a place of security from vicious employers, safety with the supply of food and shelter, and an opportunity to gage Desmond’s natural magical skills, if had any. Though still never getting fully involved in Desmond’s life, Williamston made sure that while he stayed in boarding homes or allies that the places were warm, safe, and the floor felt more like a pillow than a flat slab.

With pride in his throat, Williamston, disguised as Charles McCloud, observed Desmond’s innate desire to learn from the select books that held magical recipes, identification of magic creatures, and other magical information such as regional magic community politics. Though clearly unable to read the information, Williamston made note that Desmond still learned through observing the pictures and parred the information with an imaginative learning.

While Desmond does not have any formal learning of magic, Williamston felt that for him to gain the fullness of his heritage he would need to be taught by the professional teachings of Hogwarts, which is where he attended as a child. Funding the entire trip to the school, the supplies Desmond would require, and toys he would need to be successful, Williamston, still under the name of Charles McCloud, secured the passage and requirements for Desmond to enter Hogwarts to begin his basic, formal, and advanced teaching of the magical world he was a part of but didn’t know – yet.

Biography:

Emotional, focused, and reliable, these are the traits that define Desmond Wright in his short few years of life. Though being the age of elven years, Desmond “Des” has been working usual hours per week since he was of age six. In his first five years, Des traveled with his mother, Esther Wright, around Ireland preforming custodial and maid jobs for businesses and wealthy families. With some lucky offerings, she would gain employment that offered them room and board, but the pay was usually lower. However, the small family was not always so fortunate, and at many points found housing in boarding houses sharing rooms with multiple families.

With the terrible economic conditions in Ireland in the 1930s, Des began helping his mother with work starting at age six. He would gain less than a quarter of her income per day of work with equal hours, but the extra income was helpful in providing them more purchasing power to survive.

His father is characterized by his mother as a man who provided silky words and glittering attractions but was all fluff. Soon after his mother started showing, his father faded from their lives. Born in a charity Catholic hospital, he was judged to have a likely troubled future since he was fatherless; as such, Des was given little attention from the nurses. Fortunately, he still had his mother to look after and treat him with kind love.

Learning from his mother the need to be honest, she taught more by example than the flipping of a hand or finger. While working an independent custodial job for a large office complex in Dublin, Des helped himself to money that he found unattended upon the desk of one of the offices he cleaned. Returning to their current boarding home, he presented the money to his mother with great cheer. Though, his enthusiasm was erased soon after presenting her with his triumph. While she appreciated his charming gift, she explained that being poor did not mean they would gain in life by being dishonest. The next day, they went to his stationed employment and presented the full amount back to the gentleman he stole from. While equally disappointed, the man did not press forward with any charges or harsh punishment. The next days of work, Des would feel the uncomfortable tinge of guilt every time he cleaned the office of the man while he watched Des preform his work.

A very powerful person in his life, Desmond tragically lost his mother a few months before his tenth birthday. Orphaned in Dublin, Desmond took heart in the morals that he was taught by his mother: be charming, strong, honest, hardworking, caring, and always do better. Having no other caretakers for him, Desmond moved to various homing locations frequently. Sometimes, the locations would be a dry space in the streets and allies of Dublin while other times, when he made enough, he would pay for a stay with others in a boarding house room.

A few months after his mother passed away, Desmond found labor and janitorial work for a local printing press business. Here, Desmond found the love of books. Though never fully taught how to read, Des could sense the great effort placed into each volume and he imagined to himself the potential of knowledge that would be found on each page. While clearing the dust from many of the books stored in the basement of the store, the senior owner, Charles McCloud, observed Desmond trying to read some of the words from a book on horticulture. Struggling to sound out the words to himself, Charles stepped in and assisted Desmond in learning to read and write. Being persistent, he rushed to learn every word and every book he could get his hands on

Unable to bring any books with him after work, he would read as much as possible when allowed a break for a few minutes; nearly always forgetting to eat too. Always gentle, he pulled each page over as if he was holding the fragile arms of a baby bird. Moving his mobile home location to the ally behind the bookstore, each night he dreamt about being surrounded by all the books and learning everything they offered.

To the bright excitement of Desmond, Charles presented to Desmond the privileged change to go to school. He was explained that it was in England and he would need to travel there on his own, but that a friend of Charles would take him to where he needed to go when he got to the docks in England. Never attending school before, Desmond was ecstatic by the possibility and was eager to begin when he could.

Packing nothing, he left for the docks of Dublin to be taken to the shores of England and start this new adventure with hope it would offer many opportunities to learn, study, and hopefully not clean toilets.

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request:

While Desmond has a strong moral learning of being hardworking, loyal, and caring; his individual strive to learn, read, and know makes it very tough for him to centralize into either of the houses of: Huffelpuff or Ravenclaw.

Personality:

Being that Desmond has known only knowing his mother on a personal level, he is social shy and a bit naïve. However, he is a person who values: hard work, loyalty, compassion, the willingness to learn and adapt, and a striving to share with others what he learns. From his perspective, when you move up from the gutters you know what it is like to be on the bottom and no one else should ever have to live there, so what he learns he will teach to others so they can achieve better in life too.

Appearance:

Being still a child, Desmond has only reached the height of 5’2” (1.5m), but his frame is wide in the shoulders, thick arms and legs, and showing of room still growing. While not very muscular, he is framed on the higher build range. Thick and with a wavy-curl, his hair is trimmed in a not so organized or cared fashion.

→ ABOUT YOU.

My name is Nick, I am expecting to have my first little one in June 2016, I work in IT as a SysAdmin for Linux/Unix OS’s, and I have been playing around in text RP for about 10 years now. I LOVE to read so much, but find that it becomes a bit difficult at times; since, I have so many plates I am already spinning. I also really enjoy RP style text like this site, and have been RP’ing like this with friends for about that 10 year span. My friends, who usually RP with me, have become more distracted in video games (since that is what the site was build more upon) and I have lost interest in just simply writing MASSIVE storyline post to myself LOL! :)

I am not a RP snob, perfectionist, or person who critiques other people’s work. For me, the role of RPing is just to immerse and live in the story not just simply write a story. So, for me, I get fully invested in the story lines I write but am always comfortable when they “fade” away and no longer are touched. :)

Harry Potter is a very interesting universe for me, but I will be honest when I say that what I know is very limited in that I have only seen the movies and listened to the audiobooks. So, there will be a major learning curve for me and that is why I am preferring to create a 1st year student so that I can learn from people who know this place a lot more than I and also from those who are also getting to the know the place just as much.

Again, I am very easy going and not a fan of drama. A good showing of my RP-personality is that I am NOT the style that says, “Nuh-uh! You can’t hit me because I used “fill in blank” so I am invincible!” I am more the type that shows weakness, has my characters learn, and is emotionally and physically open to various experiences.

I really hope I would be a good fit for this site, and all learning opportunities I could gain from everyone here would be greatly appreciated.
