Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Growing up an only child in a rich family had its perks. Such as exclusive passes to large events, whether it be a match or a new unveiling at the art exhibits in London. Debutante balls, parties, wild nights were the memories he held close from his youth at Hogwarts. Snogging girls, excelling in various subjects, and playing quidditch took up most of his time whilst in the Slytherin house. Between seeing friends and spending time with his father at his newspaper’s company, his schedule was jammed packed always.  There was never a dull moment in his life, nor did he have most to himself. Though he enjoyed his time at Hogwarts, he was ready to graduate, and looking forward to his final year. Graduating with honours was simply icing on the cake.

Life after Hogwarts was not as exciting as he had thought it would be. Right after graduation, the heir went to become an auror in training. He knew the day would come where he would have to take over the Kingsley Gazette, especially when his father became ill with a disease the doctors didn’t have a name for yet.  His health was slowly declining, and his mother didn’t want anything to do with the paper, for the opinion she had for it was shattered upon finding her husband sleeping with his secretary.

After spending seven years as an Auror for the Ministry of Magic, the time has come for him to start preparations for the take over. He needed to find more cutting edge journalists and a few fierce photographers. The pressure was on, the weight of his family’s well-known name on his shoulders, and it wouldn’t be long before he crumbled beneath it.

Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Roleplay Response:
Finding new journalists was proving to be difficult. He wanted to steal from the Daily Prophet, but he wasn't entirely too sure of their actual pay so he didn't know what exactly to offer. His father was no help, telling him to be a man and figure it out.

Amusing coming from him, of all people.

Sitting on the bench under a shady tree, he watched the woman calling out to the patrons on the streets. She had heart, that for sure, and definitely ambition. Running fingers through his hair, he watched as she worked the crowd. If she convinced someone to stop and talk to her, Milo told himself he would offer a job right then and there.

As usual, he was disappointed.

The woman disappeared from him sight, leaving him alone to his thoughts. The offer ran through his mind, losing his concentration unless he heard a woman shout. He stood up from the bench, and began his way towards the voice. Sure enough, it was the journalist. Something about her heel being broken. As he made his way closer to her spot on the ground, his eyes narrowed at her.

"I wanted to offer you a job, but if you can't even keep track of your shoes, what's the point?" his voice was low, talking more to himself than to the woman. "Need help?"

SHOPKEEPER PERMIT
You must have applied as an Elsewhere character before completing this permit.

Shop name: The Kingsley Gazette
Shop Type: A newspaper
Location: London
Subforum? Yes. Pm'ed Martin about this.

Short Description (50 words max): A newspaper with cutting edge, fresh faced journalists fills the pages with exciting news stories. Need advice? Want to know the latest fashion trends or see what’s going on in other parts of the world? Maybe you just need the quidditch score from last Friday? We have it all here at The Kingsley Gazette.

Long Description (200 words min): The Kingsley Gazette was established in 1862 in a makeshift shop in the darker parts of London. Richard Kingsley was only twenty four years old when he saved up the money to create a rival newspaper to the Daily Prophet. His aim was to tell nothing but the truth, despite the woes of society, and entertain his readers. With just his wife and best friend, he built his empire from the ground up, despite his father’s disapproval.

The newspaper flourished, soon beating out its rival in sales. Over the years, its reputation was that of prestige, delivering only the cutting edge stories, gaining respect from its community and beyond. Richard Kingsley II took over in 1913, at twenty five years old after the patriarch mysteriously disappeared. Some said it was because his vocal opinions in politics that he published in the paper, and that made his son tone down the radicalness of the paper. Though still classy and opinionated, the paper continued to grow, providing various jobs for members of the society. Truth be told, only purebloods wrote for the paper, but no comment would be made from the new publisher.

In the upcoming summer of 1948, Milo Kingsley, son of Richard Kingsley II, will take over the paper due to his father’s illness. It is rumored that he fired over half of his father’s staff and hired his own. He has also added three new columns to the paper, hoping to get the paper back on track with sales.

What purpose will this shop serve other than selling things and being the home of your character? Why would people want to RP there just for fun? The Kingsley Gazette has a column for everyone! Jammed packed with news, it also has a fun side, catering to a variety of people at any age!
