Biography:
James and Alice Silvers met as first years in Ravenclaw, and were dating by Fourth year, engaged shortly before and graduation and married just under a year later. Both were Purebloods from old but barely influential families, and shared a quiet, calm disposition. James pursued a career as an auror, while Alice studied and wrote about plants from the comfort of their small country cottage not far from London. Their quiet lifestyle continued for several years before the arrival of Marianna in the first hours of November 1926. Marianna was calm and responsible from the early minutes of her life, and her parents doted on her. Several other babies followed, first twin brothers, John Richard and George Timothy, in 1930,  then a sister, Clara Mae, in 1934. Marianna adored her siblings, particularly her sister, and spent most of her early years acting as a second mother.
Alice herself was a fairly relaxed mother, though incredibly loving, and though James spent increasing amounts of time away from home as tensions escalated abroad, he too was very affectionate. All in all, Marianna's recollections of her childhood are filled with laughter and sunshine and make believe.
Marianna was thrilled to receive her Hogwarts letter, and though leaving her beloved family was hard, she fell in love with Hogwarts almost immediately. No one was surprised when the highly studious girl was sorted into Ravenclaw, and though outside her family she was rather shy Marianna made very close friends at Hogwarts. She was excited to show her little brothers around the castle when they joined her in her fifth year, and though the little Gryffindors were trouble makers from the start the three were still quite close. Then, in the early months of 1942, disaster struck the small family. James, a brave and well regarded auror, was killed on duty. This seriously damaged the family's relations, and Marianna struggled to cope. Alice struggled too, and the once joyous household became dark and gloomy. After that the small cottage no longer felt as if it offered protection from the world and Marianna's visits became shorter and more infrequent. Marianna began to dream of leaving England - and her family - far behind, and soon after graduation moved to London, where she took up journalism.
It was at St. Mungo's in 1946 she met the man who would become her husband at a discussion of modern medicine. Augustus von Diedrik was two years her senior, an intelligent and light hearted second son in a very influential German family. He was studying to become a healer, a whim indulged due to his elder brother's standing to receive the family fortune and title. Marianna and Augustus were swept up in a passionate love that resulted quickly in a marriage, in 1947, viewed skeptically by both families. The two, however, didn't care, and after the society wedding of the year on the family's estate in Germany, Wolzegarten, moved to Paris, where they both pursued their careers.
They had scarcely a year of wedded bliss, however, before Augustus's older brother died, making Augustus the next head of the family. The two returned to Germany for the funeral, and where preparing to return to Paris when Augustus's father, weakened by grief, fell ill and died.
With their dreams of a humble existence smashed, the pair decided to move to Hamburg, where the family had a large seat, so Augustus could manage the family while working as a healer.
It was not long, however, before Augustus's health took a turn for the worse. At first, Marianna cared for him in their Hamburg home, where she had dreamed of raising a family, but as the months dragged by he worsened, and though they consulted healers from all over the world, nothing could be done, and they were forced to return to Wolzegarten in 1950, where Marianna cared for Augustus with the help of her mother-in-law and a fleet of nurses and maids. It was March 6, 1951 when Augustus died, and the force that had been guiding Marianna for years died with him.
Now Marianna is adrift, no longer feeling at home in England and unsure of her position as a widow in the family of her in-laws. Looking for a purpose, Marianna returned to London to be closer to her family, and is planning on joining the Ministry.

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Roleplay Response:
She was back. Marianna stood in the middle of Diagon Alley, buffeted by people, and stared at the shops of her childhood. It had been years since she was last here, in the early day's of Augustus's condition, when she'd consulted a healer at St. Mungo's. He, like all the others, had been unable to help, unable to even diagnose the condition, and Marianna had slowly walked Augustus through the streets. The two had bought ice cream, but Augustus had been unable to finish his and she'd realized for the first time that they might not survive the illness together. Before that, she'd been here wedding shopping, giggling with her sister in a rare show of familial warmth and the two selected suitcases.
She'd come her with her father, too, getting her first wand and selecting her school robes. They'd been a bit too big, but her mother had waved her hand and assured Marianna that she'd grow into them.

Would her father recognize her now? A widow, a titled widow, dressed in fur and silk, having lived a life she never could have imagined. He'd always told her she'd be a great writer, and she'd always imagined she'd live in London. But she'd left, stopped writing.

But here she was, back were she had begun. A little more broken than before, but still... here she was.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!”

Marianna was jolted out of her reminiscing by a call. Turning slightly, she caught site, she saw a rather frantic looking women wearing only one show. Marianna hesitated for a moment, waiting for someone else to help, but after a moment realized she was the only one who had observed the women's distress.

"Are you alright? Can I help you?" Marianna called out.
