Pureblood

Biography:
Dear Diary,

I don’t know what to say about my life, other than that it is unremarkable.

But do not think for one second that I am complaining, because simplicity is more beautiful than complications. In saying that it is unremarkable, I mean that it is normal. I do not have a tragic backstory nor do I have a deep secret that I hold in my heart, but rather I have an ordinary life that I am quite proud of.

I was born into a wealthy Pureblood family with parents. As I entered this life, I entered with my beloved and treasured sister, Pacifica Narcissa, a person who will always be dear to me. Throughout our childhood, and even up to this very moment, she has led me and I have never regretted it the slightest.

If I had to describe my childhood, then it could easily be summarized in two words: peaceful and fun-- thanks to my sister. I remember watching over her, making sure that not a single person touched the hair on her head, even when she was with her female friends (who would giggle and then begin to braid my hair.) I was lauded by my parents and relatives as the ideal and vigilant guardian, who would hopefully grow to become a strong husband and father.

Soon as we grew older and then it was time to go to school, first Salem, and then back to home. Salem was peaceful as my childhood, except now my vigilance over Pacifica had increased. (Much to the dismay of the men.) Returning home for private tutoring was even better as I was closer to my family. I heard that Stupid Icky is going to be there with his fat mouth spouting nonsense as he usually does.

But something tells me that Pacifica is excited to come to Hogwarts. Nevertheless, her excitement has reached and infected me.

As quiet and crabby as I am, I am somehow not alone, much to my own surprise. I am surrounded by people other than my sister. Every since coming back to England, I always see them now. I’m not sure how to feel about this.

There’s Enoch (who’s probably going to give me high blood pressure by the age of 21) and Elidir, whose voice could wake up a hibernating bear.

Besides them, I’ve been interacting with Vincenzo, my future brother-in-law, but I find myself annoyed by him as of recent. Perhaps I should ignore him to make him upset? Or better yet, I shall connect the freckles on his face with a quill. Cissy will join me.

Why do people even enjoy my company? I’m not sure what I do, but I do it well apparently.

Diary, I must end now. Sister is calling me about my hair. Perhaps she would like to do it blonde this time, much like hers?

(I can’t wait.)

House Request: Slytherin

Personality: The first thing that everyone notices in Paris is the grumpy and dissatisfied expression that he carries everywhere with him. He is a naturally cantankerous person and always finds some reason to complain about something, but rather than choosing to express it vocally -- as he feels complaining out loud would emasculate his character-- he contains his feelings or writes them down in the diary that he carries everywhere with him. Short-tempered and difficult to please, Paris’ current priorities in life are to sleep and eat along with the more serious goal of trying to honor his family in everything he does. He rather resembles an old man in personality.

The second thing that one would notice in Paris is his taciturn attitude. Depending on what mood he is currently in and what resources he has, Paris will use his wand to write out his words or write down what he wants to say on paper. Although he will act like this towards most people, those who are closest to him have the ‘honor’ of hearing him speak. The Paladin has no specific reason to talk to people, but when asked, he will usually reply with a response similar to, “I don’t want to waste my words on stupid people.”

He is proud of his identity both as a Paladin and as a pureblood. Although others may interpret his thoughts as ‘purist’, Paris is not afraid to call his blood pure and noble, opinions that he has  held ever since an early age. He feels as if it were his duty to uphold his title as a wizard of pure and noble blood of the newest generation for his family’s name, constantly remembering this fact in his everyday life and the pressure that comes with it. A traditionalist, Paris feels that wizarding society should still revolve around the heritage of purebloods and the achievements they brought with them. Despite his conservative views, he does not discriminate or hold contempt against half-bloods and Muggleborns, but he may come off as condescending due to his pity for them. His naïvety and ignorance concerning the injustices that come with being a non-pureblood will probably insult other people in the future.

Incredibly loyal and devoted to his family, his hard-working nature and ambitiousness were not initially present in him as a child, but appeared as he realized his desires to make the Paladin family proud. Any slight against his family, especially to immediate family such as his sister, Narcissa, brings out a vengeful side that would not be expected from someone as oblivious as him, making him eager and willing the right the wronged in any way possible. However in certain situations, he will begin to hold grudges against them, no matter how small or petty the offense.

Quite contrary to the obliviousness that Paris displays when it comes to many things, he possesses a focused and strong sense of self-preservation that is only challenged by his loyalty to his family and close friends. Determined and driven, he wants to achieve as much as he can in every field possible, often overworking himself and taking on too many tasks.

Appearance: Paris is a handsome boy, whose physical features resemble those of a typical Eurasian, earning him the nickname of ‘pretty boy’. He lets his sister, Pacifica, change his hair color as she pleases. He is of above average height with a slender body.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.

Blimey, the Great Hall was packed. It seemed like everywhere a guy looked there was some clown waving around a House banner or yelling about the game.

'Can you believe it?' 'No way!' 'This must be the biggest upset in Hogwarts Quidditch history...'

Stupid Quidditch.

James flopped into an empty seat at the end of the table, shoved an empty plate out of the way, and let his head sink onto his crossed arms, squishing his freckled nose down flat against the tabletop. He wasn't sure why he'd even bothered to come here, since he definitely wasn't hungry. He'd probably never eat again, in fact. He didn'tdeserve to eat. He hadn't stopped in the locker room to change out of his muddy, sweaty uniform after the game either, because he was pretty sure he probably didn't deserve to be clean too; and anyway he couldn't stand to see the looks on his team mates' faces after he blew their chance at winning one of the biggest games they had ever played.

Just one lousy shot. That's all it would have taken. If he could have just got that one stupid foul shot to go through that one stupid hoop, they could have won and he wouldn't have been the biggest blockhead in the entire school.

As if to prove the point, half the people at the next table suddenly broke into a loud victory chant. James pressed his face further into his arms to hide the bright red blotches he could feel creeping up his cheeks. That was it. He was just going to have to run away and move to Nova Scotia. He'd just cost the three-year-in-a-row Champions the Quidditch Cup! How do you ever live that one down for crying out loud? He was only a second year and he was going to spend the rest of his life as 'that dumb cry-baby kid who dropped the Quaffle!'

It felt like every set of eyes in the room was boring into him, and James couldn't stand it anymore. He jerked himself back up from the table and stomped right back out of the Hall the same way he had come in. As he stormed into the quieter hallway outside, he could hear footsteps somewhere behind him. James rounded on the sound and began to shout, his brown eyes shining with tears. "WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!"

As if the castle decided that it wasn’t being noisy and loud enough, a broken faucet in the shape of a boy emitting sounds similar to a demented siren decided seemed to apparate out of nowhere.

Paris palmed his face and grunted. He had never been as hysterical as this upstart was when he was close to his age, rather choosing to face his mistakes with silence as opposed to emotional outbursts.

He sneered at the sight of the boy, only to double as he thought he could have sworn that the living faucet noticed him.

Was it too late to escape before he would be drowned in the younger boy’s misery?

"WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!"

Quickly whipping out a notebook, Paris scribbled something down and tore out the page, showing it to the boy. In all spidery capitals, it read:

‘BECAUSE A PICTURE WOULD MAKE YOUR PATHETIC SELF LOOK LIKE A MARTYR. NOW GO AWAY.’

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  “You!” She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:

“You!”

The quill he scribbled with stopped midway at a braking halt when he heard the shrill, nerve-grating voice of the child. He looked up, irritation present in his face, also accompanied by a frown.

"...Do you want to play?"

Even though she had changed her volume from loud to audible, he didn’t appreciate it because the girl had already managed to disturb him from his writing an entry in his diary, a valuable time. The girl, despite being just a supposedly innocent stranger, had already been blacklisted by Paris in his mind.

He held out an extended index finger, indicating that she needed to wait for a reply from him. The boy flipped to the back of his diary. The quill once again reached furious speeds as he quickly ripped out a square from a page to show to the girl.

‘NO.’ It read in spidery, all capital letters.

(The mute card was always a nice card to play; it provoked sympathy and understanding from others. Eventually the ploy yielded results as they would leave him alone.)

Not waiting for her reaction, he then placed the square paper on the notebook and scribbled something else. It was longer this time. He picked it up and showed it to her, spidery writing still present.

‘Do you need anything else?’

From high on the sugar tree, I had an epiphany of this adventure! (Recommendation)

If it’s not too much of a hassle, could you change Paris’ middle name from Scorpio to Regulus and have his title as ‘Privately Tutored’, please? (: Thank you!
