Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Ophelia Gianna Marquis was born in the early Spring, a mere four months after her parents wedded. Both Gideon and Sofia were freshly graduated from Hogwarts so Ophelia’s arrival caused quite the scandal. With the Marquis inheritance at stake, the ever charismatic Gideon had to find ways to smooth things over with his pureblood relatives. Thankfully Sofia was a treasure in her own right, so it was easy for the rigid traditionalists to accept her in their midst.

From the very start Ophelia was a bit of a trailblazer. She was the oldest of four; her younger sister, Odette was the sweetheart of the family, while Opal and Owena were so much younger that Ophelia never really bonded with them anyway. Slytherin was the perfect house for the headstrong girl and for five years, the dormitory in the Dungeons became like a second home to her. She loved both duelling and Quidditch in equal measures and while she was far from a tomboy, she was more of an athlete than a lot of other girls her age.

It was only during her sixth year, on the 7th of June 1945, that the walls of her Hogwarts haven began pushing inward, threatening to crush the life out of the girl. After successfully infiltrating the school, an under-cover Hexenreich operative murdered a fellow Slytherin and took others hostage, thus forcing the headmistress’ hand in allowing them access to the school. In the chaos that followed the students were herded together like sheep and threatened, though the biggest change only unfolded once the dust settled. For the next few years, the Hexenreich presence at Hogwarts was overwhelming.

To young Ophelia, it suddenly felt like there were eyes everywhere. For the first time in her life she watched her tongue, nervous that whatever she did  or said at Hogwarts could have far reaching consequences for her family. She also altered the plans for her future; though she’d always assumed she would work for the Ministry upon graduating, the idea of being overseen by the enemy did not appeal to her at all. When she graduated she did so with another plan entirely, one that would send her life in an unexpected direction.

Instead of applying to train at the Ministry, Ophelia appealed to Gringotts instead. There would be time to settle down and play house later; right then she craved adventure and opportunity. For one year, she worked as a Cursebreaker-in-Training at their branch in Diagon Alley, learning the theory that would aid her in the field under the careful tutelage of qualified Cursebreakers. During her second year they shipped her off Gabal Dakrour in Siwa, Egypt. Though the region was mostly famous for the healing properties of its hot sand, an archeologist employed by Gringotts had also recently discovered treasure in one of the remote mountains. A small team was needed to investigate the findings and since Ophelia had expressed a desire to travel, she was included in the group. She trained for another two years, this time on site in Siwa, before she finally qualified as a Cursebreaker.

It was during this time that she also met Raoul, a French nomad working in the area. It wasn’t quite love at first sight, but Ophelia needed the company and Raoul was exactly the right kind of charming. Soon she gave up her Gringotts sponsored accommodation to move in with him. It was the closest she’d allowed anyone to knowing her, yet she thought it was in keeping with her time of discovery.

Within a few years, the atmosphere in Egypt changed. The locals were becoming more and more suspicious of foreigners and in their eyes, the strange folk of Gringotts were as foreign as they came. One night a magical fire broke out at the excavation site, leaving the terrain more or less inaccessible. Gringotts was starting to despatch its employees to other parts of the globe and for two months, Ophelia waited anxiously to find out where her next home would be.

Upon finding out that they wanted to send her to Germany, Ophelia refused. With the horrors of Hexenreich still fresh in her mind, the last thing she wanted was to spend time among the very people that made those dark times possible. Besides, during the few months of unrest in Egypt, the young woman had grown increasingly homesick. She now yearned for Yorkshire puddings, rainy Sunday afternoons and cups of tea with far too much milk. She invited Raoul to return to England with her. He immediately accepted, only to change his mind later on. When he proposed in a bid to convince her to stay in Egypt with him, Ophelia left him and returned home, ready to start the next chapter in her life.

Option Two -
The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:
It was her first Christmas at home in seven years and Ophelia Marquis was loving the snow. Her heeled boots crunched pleasantly as she walked on the white powdered pavement, leaving deep tracks behind her. Since most of her Christmas shopping was already taken care of, Ophelia could afford to slow down from her usually harried pace. Her parents and sisters would all receive gifts that she’d bought in Egypt - from the delicate silk scarf she’d bought her mum, to the expensive watch she was planning on giving her dad. Though her sisters were a bit more difficult to buy for, the young woman was sure she’d found each of them something to treasure for years to come.

As she turned the corner and started uphill, she tilted her head back, giving the snow full access to her lashes and curls. After being covered in sand for so long, she relished the feeling of the delicate flakes clinging to every part of her. She especially liked that there was no need to pick sharp grains from uncomfortable places; snow melted of its own accord, leaving no messy smudges behind. She had closed her eyes only for a moment when someone walked straight into her, then promptly went sprawling on the pavement.

As she listened to the man’s stumbled apology she realised (much to her consternation) that it was an elderly gentleman that was now flailing helplessly at her feet.

“No no no!” she exclaimed, not unkindly, as she reached down to extend a hand. “That was entirely my fault. I  should looked where I was going.”

The poor soul would have probably still walked into her, but at least then she could have taken evasive action in time. It didn’t look like the box that he’d been carrying was heavy, but Ophelia was still nervous that he might have injured himself. The adrenaline and embarrassment could very well hide pain that would only show up later. He’d taken quite a tumble and at his age…

“Perhaps you’ll join me for a quick cup of tea?” she asked, her eyes settling on the shop not too far from where she was standing. There were a few tables outside, perfect for enjoying the snow and making sure that her victim was alright.

“It’ll help you get your legs back before you carry on.”

She smiled hopefully.
