Biography: (300 words minimum.)
The Pre-History: Marta Lark had seven children in her lifetime. Six were stillborn. Reginald was the death of her.

Reginald led a charmed life, what with his father being the Ministry's Ambassador to Hong Kong, and his mother being dead. How she died, Reg never knew, nor did he ever really think to ask. He was too busy abusing the help, eating exotic cuisine, and indulging in whatever it was that he was interested in that week.

He was spoiled, sure. He was a fast learner, and his father was an excellent role model for the type of person Reg wanted to become. His Father had a different girl on his arm almost every time Reg saw him, and more than once, two or three trailing behind. He drank too much and indulged in far too many of the muggles' mind-altering concoctions. Reginald idolized his lecherous father.

And when Reginald turned 11, his father insisted he attend England's finest Wizarding School, to be a fine Slytherin like he had been, and his father before him. Reg was moved back to England, where he attended Hogwarts School...

...as a Hufflepuff. This outraged his father, who threatened feebily to have the Headmaster sacked, but it was to no avail. Reg was a Hufflepuff, and that was that.

His daily owls and weekly packages of exotic sweets from his father were enough to make him a somewhat popular boy in school, despite his abysmal marks and obnoxious personality. He flaunted his wealth at any opportunity. He never participated in extracurricular activities, preferring to spend his time with one fellow student or another. He gained a bit of a reputation for ruining the reputations of any girl he dated.

In early spring, 1908, a particularly nasty scandal erupted involving himself and a young Gryffindor girl. Reg left the school in shame, though he himself felt no remorse. It had been a triumph, not a downfall. He returned to the Embassy in Hong Kong.  The Gryffindor girl left Hogwarts soon afterward, and then she abruptly came up missing. Though nothing could ever be proved, it was rumored that Ambassador Lark had his hand in the disappearance.

Reg continued his education under the tutelage of Madam Wong, a farce of a teacher whom Reg stepped on every chance he could. On his 17th birthday, she was fired. Two days later, the world was shocked when news reports of Conspiracy against the Crown same forth against Ambassador Lark. Later that same afternoon, Madam Wong turned up dead at the border to China.

He returned to London, penniless and unsure of his future. It was then that the Hyadum approached him.  The Lustrous Order of Hyadum is a secret society of the seventh children born of a wizard or witch. It had only recently discovered that Reginald was in fact eligible for membership. He began to work for them in Dark Artifact Retrieval and Research, and as the money began to flow, Reg returned to his father's way. His way.

The MacDonald.  A few years later, Reg met up with and befriended Newton MacDonald, a fellow Hyadum member.  They were as different as night and day, but worked together so much that they learned to appeciate the other's company.  Like everything else in life, he saw Newton as a bit of a plaything- a dumb animal to be played with until it stopped respecting him, and then destroyed quietly.

Enter Bridgit Wilkinson- a pretty blonde airhead who was good for a snog and little else.  The day the girl showed interest in Newton and not him was the day he decided Newt needed to go.  But, rather than just dispatch him outright (a messy, sloppy idea that wouldn't do well to keep him in good standing with the Hyadum) he concocted an elaborate plan involving the poor Scot's little sister.

He kidnapped the girl, then a 3rd year Ravenclaw at Hogwarts, and left ample and easy clues (and a useful Dark Arts artifact) to get the elder brother to follow- which he did.  He would lead the man on a goose chase, corner him in a dark corner of some 3rd-world country, and remove him from the equation.

The girl was just collateral damage.

He didn't expect Newton to be so dogged or damnably thorough in his chase- and eventually he found himself on the run for real.  What was meant to take a few short weeks turned into months- three years.  Newton had come to believe at this point that his sister was dead- a false presumption, as Reg had left her months before to an opium den in Hong Kong; alone, pregnant, and voided of memory with Obliviate.  In truth, Reg had gotten bored of the adventure and had discarded her; he was prepared to throw a towel in on the whole mess and start again elsewhere.

But Newt doggedly pursued, found him hiding in a little village, and they did have a showdown- in a warzone in the middle of French Indochina (Vietnam).  The scorned older brother was vicious and nearly killed Reginald, when the invading muggle forces attacked and blew up the hut they were in.  Newton was taken prisoner.  Reg was left for dead.

An artifact on his person- a Heartstone- refused to let him die.  He came out of the ordeal burned and broken, his blood forever poisoned by the dark magic that kept him alive (the artifact was rendered useless by it).  He went into hiding.

Back to Britain. Reg has returned to Britain quietly, working in the shadows and avoiding confrontation when possible.  His money comes from his dealings in illegal artifacts; his passion has turned to murder.  He has, since his return in 1946, caused the death of five witches- housewives of no consequence, their deaths ruled suicides or accidents.  No money was taken, no telling leads at all.  Two prominent figures- a husband and wife of some authority in fashion circles- were found dead in their home recently.  Same MO- no money was taken, no sign of dispute or any real reason for the foul play.

Reg did it for fun.  He has also caused three wizard businessmen to come up missing over the past three years- again with no clues as to why they would be targeted.  No money missing.  No ransom or paper trail, no obvious reason for their disappearance at all.  He simply chose and made it happen.  And since discovering his foil- the man who nearly killed him- is alive and well in London?

Reginald Lark is planning to kill Newton MacDonald next.

He was contacted recently by an 'admirer' for his creativity and ingenuity.  Someone in the seedy underbelly recognizes his talent- finally.  His expertise, influence, and relative availability to acquire Dark Artifacts as needed makes him a valuable ally.  Just don't cross him.

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Roleplay Response:
Dejīng jièzhǐ, a goblin ring from Hong Kong, gave him a glamer of a man much younger, much handsomer, and certainly less broken; or an ugly little Asian goblin; or a twisted, even darker version of his own face.  But today, he was the handsome young man.  It was painful to wear- it pinched the skin and made sudden movements more difficult, but it also let him walk around in public without being reviled.  The scars on his face made children cry and women faint- so the ring was a must in public.

He was upset, a little- his contact hadn't shown for their rendezvous and his plans had been set back by weeks as a result.  To make things worse, there was a crowd on the street, and the more eyes there were to fool, the better his chances that someone would see through his glamer.  It was not a good time to be in a bad mood.

In a heartbeat- a tortured, grey-black heartbeat- a reasonably pretty young woman made a scene in the street; his next potential victim revealed herself to him as clearly as if a sign from the Powers Above.  He approached her when others were rushing past, made time while others were ignoring her.

He offered her a hand, "Ma'am, are you alright?" he asked with such a charismatic smile he dripped with charm, "Nothing a quick Reparo won't fix.  You'll be right as rain!"  If all went well, he'd convince her to have a drink.  He'd learn her name, gain her trust.  If he could, he'd get her back to her home.  Hers would be 'accidental', that much he knew already.  The details would come to him as he got to know her.

It would be boring, otherwise.
