Biography:
Well.

So the first few times had not been as great as she had anticipated, a fact to which her sore rump and torn stockings attested. But she’d seen a few of the couples down at the park on them and she’d begged to get a pair. Now that she had them, she was going to show them all what she could do. A few falls were hardly enough to stop Cosmina Laskos-- no matter how much Leander may laugh or how many times Gia may say she couldn’t do it.. Since flying was restricted (even on the toy brooms like the ones Ottis and Orrin had), rollerskates would have to do. Even if there wasn’t much wizarding fun to have without magic when growing up in a muggle city, there was still plenty of opportunities for fun. You simply had to be creative.

Or have what Aunt Aella called ‘a reckless penchant for trouble’.

Either one.

Everyone else were just fraidy cats. Real Laskoi were lions, just like their family banner. So not bothering to spare another defiant look in the direciton of her doubting siblings (except Sapphira, who hadn’t said anything about the matter yet), Cosmina brought her legs under her again. The raw skin of her knee stung just a bit, but no where near as bad as her desire to conquer these muggle wheels. If Leander could somehow manage to stay aloft on a broom (which she strongly doubted-- she’d seen him play against their other cousins only two summers ago), then surely she could master a measly pair of roller skates.

A wobble on her attempt to stand almost proved her wrong.

But gainig her bearings, she managed to stay upright and (mostly) stationary, her knees locked in place. She would have put her hands proudly on her hips, but was there was still the chance that even the first wrong move would invite another fall. This time she was going to make it.

After all, she’d have to be capable of even more than rollerskates, she was a confirmed witch, now. Really and truly. She’d gotten her letter only two days ago, all three of them had-- even despite Leander’s teasing. She hadn’t believed him for a bit that she wasn’t going to receive one. Not really. She'd known she'd had it in her.

And besides, Sapphie and Gia were bound to get in. Sapphira had only made her chocolate milk bubble all on her own just last month. Mother hadn't been too happy about her table cloth, but Cosmina had certainly found it amusing and Gia just a little jealous. All she had ever been able to do is make a banana turn brown when she had resisted eating it. And if her two sisters could do magic, then so could she. The three of them shared everything. But finally, this could be something all her own.

Which meant she wanted it more than anything.

Shifting her stance as smooth as she could, she pushed off just as she had seen the muggles do, sending the wheels of her skates rolling across . Before her second foot had trouble catching up, but this time it was ready. Her arms balance out awkwardly to try and match her attempted strides. She looked less like a swan and more like a duck, but she was off and on her way. Long brown hair swayed behind her as she slowly gained the habit, her knees still wobbling a bit with the adjusted gait. This was just as fun as anything she had ever imagined it being. She was glad Sapphira and Gia had chosen to skip out. Now she could tell them what fun it really was and now be better at it than they if they decided to join in.

Smiling, Cosmina wondered if Papa would let her wear them when they went shopping for school supplies in Diagon. Wouldn't that be just wonderful? She could barely picture it.

Easily distracted by all the attention she imagined receiving on such an outing, it was slightly too late that she noticed that her siblings' cheers had changed to shouts. Sapphira even shrieked. But none of it managed to reach Cosmina before she went careening down the hill at the end of the street.

But then, there was never any stopping Cosmina when she saw what she wanted. Even when she tended to get more than she typically bargained for. It was her very own brand of luck.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.

She crossed her arms defiantly, her lips pressed into a definite pout. Someone should have listened to her when she’d told the captain they shouldn’t have let him play. And now he’d lost their game. The championship game. They should just hand over the cup to Hufflepuff. Leander would have gotten a laugh out of that one.

And yet somehow even her brother of all people had managed to win his house two whole seasons undefeated. He’d even been co-captain.

That was just more indication of just how a player James must really be. It wasn’t fair that he was on her team. Especially when she’d been playing so well.

Something sharp just on the tip of her tongue readied in retort, she was stopped when she noticed the pricked tone in the other boy’s voice. Giving one final purse of her lips to be done with it, Cosmina sighed one last frustrated breath.

“Their goalie is much too big a player to ever be allowed on a broom. Don’t worry, James, you weren’t all that terrible the whole time,” she lied. “We’’ll practice together and next term we’ll be the ones cheering. And louder.” She beamed. That ought be encouraging.

Hello Miss Laskos,

Your application is looking awesome! However, if Cosmina was born in 1931 she would only just have turned 10 and would not have received a letter to Hogwarts yet. If you could just adjust that to perhaps 1930, I'll get you accepted right away!
