Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Love…love can be fickle. And amidst the chaos, hatred, and confusion of war? Well, love can drive someone to do even the most craziest of things.

Such was the case of Vanessa Naoi, born in the rainy month of February and adopted by a relatively affluent Muggle couple, Luan and Iris Naoi. Luan, a young Vietnamese man, had come to the city of Oxford for business. It was here that he decided to settle down and marry the love of his life, Iris Gray, a charming British woman…though all was not meant to end well. Even though the war was dying down in the Muggle World, the years had affected the Naoi family business. Having suffered terrible losses, it was made even more complicated as their family was to grow bigger with a baby boy.

Because of the financial problems and the urgency of the situation, it was decided for Vanessa, now six years old, to stay for a year or two in South Oxfordshire with Iris’s eccentric and isolated mother, Camilla Gray. Though Iris had initially, oddly expressed hesitation at this decision, it was due to the desperation of the situation  that she gave in to her husband’s urging. In the meantime, Iris and Luan would see whether a new job offer in Paris would benefit them.

Eventually, they succeeded in their endeavors and returned to Camilla’s manor two years later, now with a two year old son named Leo in tow. In the week that they stayed at the manor, a magical  incident occurred between Vanessa and her new brother, leaving the boy with a slight injury. Though it was nothing serious, her parents were fearful. At her explanation of what had happened her parents gave no reaction, though her mother was tensed in a way that betrayed her knowledge of what had occurred. Vanessa herself was not quite sure what she had done, for it was the first time her abilities had clearly began to show.

At their horror of discovering what Vanessa truly was, and how she had hurt her own brother, they left immediately…leaving her behind as well. Her mother had mentioned that Vanessa was “just like Camilla, a wretched misfit.” Throughout the whole ordeal, Vanessa was on the verge of crying, crying until she could let no more tears fall, yet all she could do was clench her jaw and let a look of true grit take over her face. She would not let them see how much she missed them.

Vanessa's hope was restored in her family when they visited a few months later. She had thought that maybe they felt guilty, or maybe that they would forgive her for something she couldn't quite understand. And maybe they did feel a hint of regret, of remorse at leaving her behind. But soon enough, the time spread longer in between their visits. And then the months turned into a year, before the visits stopped altogether. It wasn't all too bad, as the years went by. After all, time heals. Time forgets.

Nevertheless, it was here in the lush environment of Oxfordshire that Vanessa began to forget-really forget- about her former life and flourish under the care of her only family, grandmother, and fellow witch, Camilla. The next three years were a whirlwind of new experiences; it was a life that she had never dreamt of having, but one she was beginning to love more and more. One that she would soon be thrust in at full force as the days ticked down until the inevitable, wondrous arrival of her acceptance letter to this mysterious and wonderful place called Hogwarts.

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
”...Do you want to play?”

It was a few minutes before Vanessa realized the question had been directed at her. After all, she was quite comfortable and nearly half-asleep underneath the warm sun rays where she was laying on the grass. Waking from her hazy stupor, she blinked a couple of times before turning her head towards the direction of the voice.

”Uh…” she paused, an internal struggle between giving into the puppy dog eyes of the little girl, and the temptation of falling back down upon the grass and giving into blissful, blissful sleep. The girl waited there expectantly, and before Vanessa knew it, she had already replied. “Ah sure, why not? Glancing at the toy broomstick, Vanessa decided that the girl’s parents probably had it charmed that way for a reason, and she really didn’t want to be responsible if the girl gained any injuries.

With that in mind, she stood up, brushing off stray strands of grass on her skirt. Giving the girl a cheerful smile, she proposed another option, one that she was looking forward to as well. ”Before we...play, why don’t we stop by that shop over there and get some sweets or maybe even a lolly?”
