Elsewhere Accepted / Re: Rosemarie Alexander : application
« on: 26/06/2013 at 14:15 »
Hello Rosemarie,

Your application is looking great! Before I can accept you, though, there're just a few things that need to be addressed.

Firstly, your levels look a tiny bit unbalanced. Please keep in mind that your weakest area should have no less than half the points of your strongest. If you could just readjust that, it would be great, thanks!

Secondly, I am curious to know just a little bit about Rosemarie's relation to the magical world. Is she a pureblood, halfblood or muggleborn? Does she have many connections and relations within the magical world? Or does she mainly live in the muggle world? Etc.

As for your roleplay response, that looks good! Just one tiny thing. You are stating that Rosemarie has been to a late night party, but the time in the roleplay you are responding to is actually just as it is getting dark in the evening.

If you could please address these things and repost your application in this thread, we'd be happy to have another look at it! :)

Elsewhere Accepted / Re: Grimm Palatar: Elsewhere Child
« on: 06/06/2013 at 16:47 »
Hey Grimm,

Thank you for clearing up a few things! Your roleplay response is looking much better and the bio is also coming along nicely. :)

Please be aware that according to our site ratings, children learning dark arts are not allowed, so I must ask you to edit that to something a little more appropriate. To read our site ratings please look here. Please also be aware that any objects with special abilities requires a special application.

Furthermore, your biography is looking very good, I'm just a little curious about what Grimm is like as a person. Is he happy? Cheeky? Brave? Shy? Does he have many friends? What does he like? Where does he go to school? Etc. etc.

Please address these things and repost your application below, and we'll be happy to take another look! :)

Elsewhere Accepted / Re: Grimm Palatar: Elsewhere Child
« on: 06/06/2013 at 05:12 »
Hey Grimm,

Welcome to HS.net! :) Before I can accept your application, there's just a few things that need to be addressed.

Firstly, when magic is starting to show itself in young children it usually does so in one or a few minor incidents. Having a book completely change is considered hard or complex magic in our universe and it is not likely to happen to a 9 year old child, even if it does sound pretty cool! Please edit that to something a little more appropriate. :)

Secondly, in your roleplay response you have Grimm leave the scene completely which, if this was a thread you replied to at the boards, would leave Janey with nothing to reply to. Maybe you can have Grimm simply state that he will leave, or just begin to walk away. In that way you give Janey a chance to try and stop him, or say something to him.

Please also be aware that our roleplays are written in third person past tense.

Lastly, please be aware that I cannot accept your application before you have an accepted special application for the dragon pet. Alternately you can edit your application and remove any mentioning of the dragon for now. :)

Please also be aware that Chinese Fireballs are native to China and are not likely to be found in England at all.

Please address these things and repost your application in this thread. Then we'll be happy to take another look at it! :)

Congratulations on being accepted to Salem Institute!

Just a small note on Genevieve's birth year. Since all birth records would have automatically been changed with the time warp, 1920 is still the correct year, if you wish for her to be turning 18 in 1938. :)

Hello Genevieve,

Your application is looking lovely! There's just one tiny thing regarding the roleplay response. The roleply we are looking for you to reply to is the one with Simon written in the application here.

Please correct that and we'll be happy to have another look at your application. :)

Please also keep in mind that two years ago the wizarding world experienced a time warp. Before that everyone were living in the 1970s. If you are interested in learning more about the Time Warp, please read the Time Warp FAQ  :)

Hello Arianna,

Your application is looking great! I am just wondering if your character and her family are related to the already excisting Darcy family at the site? If they are related please provide me with permission from Cassius Ellwood-Luxe/Dacian Ellwood-Luxe. :)

You can see a (not complete) list of pureblood families at the site here: Link!

Also, please keep in mind that at Beauxbatons Arianna might get in trouble if she coloured her hair in unnatural colours like pink or blue since it's against the school rules. :)

Dear Amber,

Congratulations on being accepted to Salem Institute!

As a reminder, please remember that all roleplay responses on the site need to be written in third person past tense, just like the first part of your roleplay response was. That means, "Amber was sitting in the library" and "Amber said ..." are all good and correct, but "Amber is worried about cheating" would have to be "Amber was worried about cheating." Please keep that in mind, and have fun roleplaying!

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact any of the admins or global moderators. :)

Hello Aoimaru!

Your application is looking great! I'm just a little confused about his birthday, is it on the 28 Oct, 1925 or 30 Aug, 1925?

Since Aoimaru is a halfblood and his father a muggle, I'm also curious to know how he reacted to the time warp when the wizarding world slid from 1974 to 1937 and all the muggles disappeared. Where did Aoimaru go? Does he have contact with any of his mother's wizarding relatives etc?

If you want to know more about the time warp, please have a look at the Time Warp FAQ :)

Please repost your edited application below and we'll be happy to look at it again! :)

Archived Applications / Re: Cheyenne Marie Laine
« on: 09/05/2013 at 11:49 »
Hello Cheyenne,

Thank you for clearing up those few things. Your biography is looking good. I can see you have a few exciting ideas for Cheyenne and her past! Just as a reminder I'll like to make you aware of the Site Rating should you at some point wish to roleplay more about especially the mother's dead sister, and the incidents relating Cheyenne's missing sister.

Before we can accept you application, I'll just need to ask you to have a second look at a minor thing in your roleplay response. In your reply you are writing that Cheyenne went over and helped the girl up. That is called power playing. When roleplaying you are only allowed to control your own character's actions, but not the actions of anyone else's character. Instead you could for example say that Cheyenne asked her if she needed help to get up, or that she reached out her hand to help her. But you can't write what Hilary does, that is for her player to determine.

Please have a look at this and repost your application in this thread with your edited roleplay response, and we'll be happy to take another look at your application! :)

Miss Knightlock,

Congratulations, your application to Hogwarts School has been accepted. Term begins 01 May, 2013. Currently, students have gathered at Camp Loki. Your admission is joint for both the school and Camp Loki, and we encourage you to spend your summer there. Should you choose, you may also visit our Elsewhere board via the Floo Network to visit or purchase school supplies. We look forward to seeing you at the School.

Thank you for editing you roleplay response! It looks much better this time, just keep in mind when you roleplay on the board, having Willow leave a thread abruptly like that will make it hard for the person you are roleplaying with to respond. He or she might have wished to try and stop Willow or say something to her!
An idea could be to for example end your post with "And with that Willow turned away and started walking off." In that way you still leave it open for the person to for example try and grab Willow's arm or follow her. :)
