Biography: (300 words minimum.)
This is a fictional interview.

Reporter: What is your name?

Johann. Johann Doe.
Reporter: Johann ... So that means ... John Doe.
Yes.
Reporter: You are joking.
I do not have the habit of joking about my name.
Reporter: Ok. What is your real name, Johann?
I do not know. I wasn't given one.
Reporter: Would you care to explain?
In short. I do not know my parents. I was raised in foster care since I was an infant. The lady that raised me, Gertrude, gave me my first name. And her own family name, of course. But I changed it to Doe after I left school.
Reporter: I see. Ok. Why Johann? Did you ask her?
That's easy. I liked listening to Johann Strauss. You see, I was raised in Vienna. And you kinda have the tendency there to bump into classical music. So she gave me the name Johann, since she didn't know what else to call me.
Reporter: Fair enough. Very well then. So you were raised in Vienna. Do you know where you were born?
No, I do not know that either. Gertrude just found me on her doorstep. I guess I could've come from anywhere with a Caucasian population.
Reporter: Wow, I mean. It must be rather frustrating for you.
Well, I would like to know all the details but ... so far, I haven't gotten anything. But I will continue to look.
Reporter: I wish you good luck with that. So ... did you go to school?
When I turned of age, yes, I did. Hapsburg School of the Magical Arts. Gertrude ... I have to say this first. She was a widow. She had no children. Couldn't have any either. I was the only person closest to family that she had. So she provided me with everything. Money, clothes, books, wand, various other school stuff. Everything. She was very good to me. Someone who just happened to land on her doorstep.
Reporter: Sounds like quite the woman. So you said you left school. When did that happen and why?
It was right after the end of my final year. I came back home to find out that Gertrude had been murdered.
Reporter: ... wow ... I am so sorry.
Thank you. I was looking forward to celebrate entering my final year with her. And ... I find out that there was a break-in. Gertrude stumbled on the thief and he killed her. That was when I realized that the school uniform ... it just wasn't fitting me anymore. So I just dropped everything and began searching for her killer. It took me four months, but I found him and caught up to him.
Reporter: Then what happened?
My first impulse was to get revenge on the spot. But then I remembered how good Gertrude had been to me. All her teachings. She didn't raise a murderer. So I just knocked him unconscious and handed him to the authorities, along with all the evidence. He was sent to prison. I just packed up everything and left.
Reporter: Why didn't you keep Gertrude's name?
I felt that it would be best to start clean slate. I wasn't going to forget what I've been taught. But it was time to move and go on my own.
Reporter: What have you been doing since then?
Been supporting myself. Odd jobs here and there around Europe ... Helping people, especially those that couldn't. Nabbing the occasional criminal and handing them to the authorities, before leaving the scene. Not doing it for fame. I simply believe that the wrongs in the world need to be corrected. That is how Gertrude raised me. That I should always do what's right. Never what is wrong. And never accept wrong things as being alright.
Reporter: And now? Do you have a job? Where do you live?
At this time, I am looking for a job. As for living ... More like sleeping. Just any inn or hotel where I can find a proper bed. I am not picky.
Reporter: You don't have an actual residence?
No, I don't.
Reporter: Somehow, after what you've told me, it doesn't surprise me.
No, it really shouldn't.
Reporter: Thank you for your time, Johann. And good luck. Including finding out who you are.
Thank you. Really appreciate it.[/i]

Roleplay:
You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character:

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Roleplay Response:
Johann wasn't a terrible fan of the reporters. Because he preferred to avoid getting his name, his story or both in there. Him not being one about fame and such. Then again, they might be able to find out more about his origins. Reporters were extremely nosy like that and, whenever smelling a good story, they wouldn't let go. And his might be a really good one. Was it really a trade-off that he would accept though? He hadn't decided yet. There might be other options to explore.

He was sitting at a nearby cafe table, fiddling with a sandwich that he had just purchased. That was one half of his lunch. Hadn't decided on the other half. He had watched quietly for a few good minutes as the poor reporter seem to have no chance to get an answer for whatever question she had. People were in such a hurry. It would really only take a minute to stop, answer a question and then leave. Not that big of a deal.

And then the heel gave way. It was bound to happen. Heels on cobble stones, recipe for potential disaster. The shoe rolled off in the vicinity of his table. Regardless of his feelings towards journalists, Johann decided to help out. He took one more bite from his sandwich, swallowed quickly as he grabbed hold of the broken shoe. Then swiftly moved at the distraught reporter's side, offering his free hand. "May I be of some assistance, Miss? Perhaps both with the shoe and ... that question that you want answered."

All that accompanied by a kind smile. Probably the best offer she would get all day.

Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Mathilda Eileen Elizabeth Mountbatten

Birthday: 1st of December 1936/1937

Hometown: Edinburgh, Scotland

Bloodline: Pureblood

Magical Strength: Charms

Magical Weakness: Divination

Year: Six / Five

Biography:
Mathilda Eileen Elizabeth Mountbatten was born on 1st of December to her parents William and Eglantine (née Wildingham). Mathilda is the youngest of triplets and she has two brothers; Malcolm and Matthew. The Mountbattens live in a wealthy neighborhood just outside Edinburgh - however, due to William's career as a professional Quidditch player, the family has travelled a lot around the UK as well as Europe. William has only recently retired from his broom after notrable years of representing the Scotland's National Team as a keeper.

Mathilda grew up with his two brothers - and the triplets surely kept their young parents busy. As William and Eglantine both are both members of well-known conservative pure-blood families, the triplets were raised to look down over Muggleborns - those, who do not represent old and traditional pure-blood values, to be exact. William and Eglantine among were demanding parents and the triplets were taught good and proper manners at a very early age. The children also went to home school before attending Hogwarts, and during these years they learned different languages - French and Latin - history and literature.

The triplets hopped on their toy broomsticks as soon as they learned to walk, and from that day on, the siblings have not let the game go. There is a small Quidditch field in the backyard of the Mountbattens manor - hidden from Muggles - so that the triplets can train their skills whenever they are home. Quidditch has always been in first place in their life, which tends to worry their Mother quite a bit - Eglantine would like her children to success at school and not only focus on flying on their broomsticks. Eglantine is very demanding especially what comes to her only daughter, and if it indeed was up to her, Mathilda would graduate with top grades and bring glory to her family by marrying a wealthy and successful pure-blood wizard.

On their 11th birthday the triplets got their very well-waited letters from Hogwarts - school, from which their parents had graduated as well. The triplets were sorted to  --, and from the first day of school Mathilda alongside with her brothers have been ready to develop their magical skills while wrapping the school around their little fingers.

[History will be edited once the character has been sorted into her House, as this will have quite a lot to do with the time Mathilda has spent at Hogwarts.]

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request: Slytherin

Personality:
Above all, Mahthilda can be described as a sharp-tongued, temperamental and strong person. She generally seems to be very arrogant and cold-blooded, however mostly due to her unwavering self-confident and her way of not hesitating to show it off in front of everyone. She's not afraid of being the focus of attention - actually, she tends to enjoy it. Mathilda has her ways of making sure that nothing or no one comes between her and her own goals, and since her early childhood - and due to being her father's little princess - she refuses to get a "no" as an answer. She is willing to do nearly anything to get what she wants and therefore she often ruthlessly runs for her own benefit. However, as being born to a conservative and well-known pure-blood family, Mathilda has learned good manners. Therefore it is easy for her to give a good impression of herself to important people - but also to get out of difficult situations and trouble.

Mathilda was born to be a leader. Whether it is a bunch of friends or a group work in Potions class, Mathilda is without an exception the one who gives the orders. However, this position suits her very well due to her natural skills to take over situations and people. This feature sometimes - often - causes irritation and grumbling among others but when they get to know her better, they surely will figure out that she has not earned her peers' trust for nothing. Mathilda indeed is a loyal friend, but her trust needs to be earned - in addition to her brothers, there are only few of those who she could trust her deepest secrets with. Ingrid needs people around her and she does not enjoy spending time alone as having grown up with two brothers, she's got used to always having someone around. She has a large group of friends - as well as a large group of individuals who she stays in good relations with only because of their potential usefulness.

Appearance:
When Mathilda enters the room she turns heads. The girl has inherited her beautiful oval-faced face lineaments from her mother, as well as her long curved, lashes and dark brown eyes. The eyes are framed by thick and dark eyebrows, one of which has a small and usually quite unnoticeable scar as a result of an incident during a Quidditch game. The nose is straightforward. Her dark and extremely thick hair easily reaches her waist, however, it is quite difficult to handle. Usually Mathilda lets her locks settle for themselves - sometimes the hair is tied in a high messy bun or ponytail.

Mathilda has been blessed with a length of 5'6''. Due to regular Quidditch training, she's in a good physical condition. The skin is fair and tends to easily get sunburnt during summers - if it so happens that the sun appears in the rainy Scottish summers. In the summer, freckles will appear on her nose and cheekbones, often lasting through winter and then disappearing before the spring ends.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.

Option I:

The day had been extremely tiring - studying and preparing for O.W.L exams had been even more time-consuming and challenging than all the professors had warned. The remaining classes before the actual exams were intensive and the pile of homework nearly reached the common room ceiling already. According to the professors, students did not have time to any other activities while they were preparing for the most important examination of their school career, however, Mathilda did couldn't stop herself from taking the time off from her homework and head to the Quidditch pitch in the early evening.

Quidditch was an excellent way to let out all the stress and frustrated emotions that had persistently followed Mathilda for the past weeks. Now wonder why, after a long hour, she was already able to smile and laugh a little as she left the pitch alongside her brothers only a short moment before dinner. When everyone else made their way to the Great Hall, Mathilda headed to the dungeons as she wanted to read through a couple of articles before leaving for the Astronomy class. Brown hair, dark as night, was bouncing softly in the air in pace of her steps as Mathilda made her way down to the dungeons, carrying her broomstick on her shoulder.

The dark stone dungeons wouldn't feel warmly welcoming to anyone else but a Slytherin. That being said, Mathilda was extremely surprised as she found a lonely young Gryffindor wandering around the unoccupied corridors.

"H-h-hello? Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

Mathilda smirked quietly.

"Indeed I am!" she then shouted out loud from some feet away as she approached the little girl behind her back. It made the girl lose her mind as she jumped out of fright.

"What do you think you are doing here?" The tone of Mathilda's voice was slightly annoyed as she spoke, yet still she couldn't hide the hint of surprise in it. She raised an inquisitive eyebrow, waiting for her to answer. The girl looked absolutely horrified as she somehow seemed trying to get her thoughts back together.

"I believe this is not a place for a little Gryffindor cub. Off you go," Mathilda then shooed, shaking her head a few times, and then continued on heading back to the common room and stacks of awaiting homework.

Mathilda shortly watched her distancing back, shaking her head a few times, and then continued on heading back to the common room and stacks of awaiting homework.

Option 2: The wind blew lightly as Zion sat with her legs criss-crossed in the middle of the row of bright red flowers. She didn't particularly like flowers, but she admired their beauty and their aura of peace and serenity. They smelled wonderful as well. It was a nice day outside and what better day is it to read a good book in the sunlight? She had her copy of her favorite book and she was surrounded by nature. She couldn't have asked for more.

Zion was in a completely different world.

Her eyes was glued to each page of the book as it revealed the dark secrets of the main character. She began to fall in love with him every second. Even though her crush was only a character, Zion believed that he was a model for every single human—no matter what, they will always be a part of you hidden from the world whether it is good as light or bad as darkness.

For a tiny moment, Zion felt relatable.

The flowers rustled a bit, interrupting her from heer thoughts. Zion looked around, searching for another person or animal, but when she didn't see anything, she thought nothing of it.. until it happened again.. and again.

Zion stood on her feet clumsily. She was beginning to get worried that something was out there in the midst of the flowers. The flowers rustled again and although she couldn't hear it, she saw it for the first time.

A cute little grey fellow zipped through the bouquets: a rat.

Zion chuckled lightly at the thought of a small rat attacking her. When the rat zipped through the flowers once more, she hurried to scoop the small animal up.

She raised the rat up, examining it close to her face. She stroked his head, deciding that she was going to keep it as a pet.

The wind picked up its pace as the flowers rustled again softly. A loud echo bounced through the air and the dirt circled around her.

Zion saw him before he could see. She quietly hid behind the flowers, holding the rat in her hands as she spied on the boy. He wiped his nose. Was he sick? Did he have allergies? He seemed grumpy about it either way.

"Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

He seemed angry at her.

Provoking him seemed to be the last thing she would do.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Zion saw him before he could see her. She quietly hid behind the flowers, holding the rat in her hands as she spied on the boy. He wiped his nose. Was he sick? Did he have allergies? He seemed grumpy about it either way. Provoking him seemed to be the last thing she would do.

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers, and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."
