Biography: Séraphine Cecille Mousseau grew up as an only-child in a divided household, her mother a Scottish witch and her father a French muggle. Having shown magical ability since birth, her mother successfully hid it from her unaware father. One rainy day in April, Séraphine's father returned home early from work, catching his wife demonstrating various transfigurations to their five-year-old and panicked. Séraphine's mother, Amelie, hurriedly tried to explain the nature of magic but her husband refused to listen and fled, never to return.
After her father's departure, the young girl's magical ability flourished and while Monsieur Mousseau was dearly missed by his child, his exit was fruitful; helping Séraphine to fully embrace her powers without having to hide them. Her powers had only begun to grow and would continue to do so her entire life.

Throughout childhood, of the many pleasures Séraphine held, one of the most prominent was her compassion towards animals. Whether cute or ugly, perfect or stunted, fuzzy or scaly; she adored all of them. On her free days, she could often be found in the gardens outside her family's estate, befriending bugs or building homes for squirrels out of twigs. The only thing that the child ever considered a friend was a stray cat that often roamed the Mousseau estate property. Chauncey, as she called him, was a white and brown dappled cat with silvery-grey eyes, who would later accompany her to school for her first, second and third years.

With 8 years of age, the young witch learned of the magical schools through her mother's experience. Beauxbaton, her nation's school of magic, enchanted her from the very beginning, yet her mother insisted she turn her gaze towards Hogwarts instead. Séraphine's hopes of going to Beauxbaton rather than her mother's preference, Hogwarts, had been the source of countless disputes between them. Her stubbornness and kindness towards others was initially inspired by her mother, who shared the same optimism and attitude.

The young witch had been fluent in her native language and semi-fluent in english since she began to speak, yet the thing that frightened her the most about being sent to Hogwarts was the language barrier. She feared being isolated with only english-speakers and worried about whether or not her professors and peers would be able to understand her through her thick accent. Reassurances from her mother proved to be a comfort, but still the fear lingered: what if she didn't fit in?

On her eleventh birthday, two letters arrived, one from Beauxbatons and the second from Hogwarts. She had been sent an acceptance to Hogwarts since her mother remained a Scottish citizen and a Hogwarts graduate. Her mother's persistence led to her tearing the letter from Beauxbatons to shreds and burning it. "Oh, it appears as if you only have one option," her mother had remarked. Séraphine, fuming at this, would later recognize this as a blessing, as she would eventually come to adore Hogwarts. In the face of her mother's determination, she decided any further attempts to get her way would be futile and whether not she liked it, she would be attending Hogwarts.

On September 1st, the eleven year-old Séraphine was packed and terrified. After following the floo network with her mother, she arrived at the infamous train, which would transport her for the next seven years. She sat alone, well, not alone but none of the other students in her compartment interacted with her, so she was essentially alone. Her first experience with Hogwarts would reflect the next 3 years of her education.
Throughout her first through third year, she had made little to no progress in the friend department, held average grades(except in transfiguration, which she excelled in) and in general successfully isolated herself by using her accent as a barrier.

Séraphine's fourth year at Hogwarts was the year that everything changed. Finally, she was completely accustomed to speaking in only english and broke out of her nervous barriers, interacting with other students. Her grades and true personality flourished and as her language barrier had dissipated, so had her negativity towards Hogwarts.

If you are applying to be a first, second, or third year, your biography must be at least one hundred words long.
If you are applying to be a fourth year or above, your biography must be at least three hundred words long. When the tenth year of Séraphine's life hit, her abilities began to fall into place and she reveled in her last year living alongside her mother. I

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request:None in particular

Personality:Séraphine is an optimist, always attempting to make light of any situation thrown at her. On a general basis, she is cheerful, but can't stand being on a rigid schedule and doesn't take well to strict rules or overall rudeness. Often, she gets frustrated at how much she lets fly right over her head in her attempts to look on the bright side. She is kind to others, often even when responding to the rudeness of others. But when faced with outlandish rudeness, she will forget all of her kind characteristics and friendliness and flip her entire personality to something resembling a "dark side." In general, when she dislikes somebody or something, she keeps it to herself and bottles up the emotion; causing her to explode with anger on occasion. When deeply upset, Séraphine often reverts to her native language, French; a trait which she developed by her fear of offending others and figured most people wouldn't understand her, or at least english people wouldn't. She is generally a good student but often her stubbornness causes her to lag behind. She adores animals above all else as well as flowers. She dislikes rudeness and violence, alongside of a fear of thunder and lightning; which renders her immobile and hidden underneath her bed.

Appearance: Séraphine stands at 5'6 with lanky legs, a thin waist and virtually no hips. Her face is wide and short with deep set hazel eyes. Her skin is a creamy beige; her hair a golden caramel. Her eyebrows are darker than her hair and low-set. She has a small button nose and a clear complexion; but only because mother aids her by using charms to keep her blemish-prone face clear.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
The corridor was nearly empty, but for a wandering ghost. The only sound was the tapping of Séraphine's shiny shoes and the swishing of her robes. Her gaze was planted on the floor, but not out of shyness or awkwardness; she was merely making sure not to step on any bugs. It was often difficult to not run into pillars or people as she carefully surveyed the floor, her golden-caramel hair hanging in front of her face.

A high-pitched voice called out from behind her, and her head lifted curiously. "Oh là là" she cried in surprise, as she felt her foot make contact with something. A half-crushed roly poly lay at her feet. "Je suis désolé," she whispered mournfully to the poor, defenseless creature. "Wait up! It's for the paper!" The girl was calling, now hurtling towards her. Séraphine turned around, curiously widening her eyes at the girl. The newspaper-girl was spouting off something about frog legs; she was talking so fast Séraphine was having trouble keeping up. "Frog legs? Well, we eat them quite often back in my home country; I can't say I see much of a difference between them and chicken. It really is delicious once you evacuate the initial disgust." She rambled on, happy to be able to talk to someone. Hopefully, the girl from the newspaper would be able to understand her.
