Biography:
Born to Gilbert and Fiora Märchen in the spring of 1934, Veronica Daffodil fit cozily into the role of the spoilt only child of a pair of overprotective, but well-meaning parents. It had taken many years for the pair to conceive a child, and is typical of eager, new parents, they spent all of their time and energy on her and showered her with praise without end. However, with such excitement came high expectations.

It was Gilbert and Fiora’s fondest wish to see their daughter blossom into a proper lady – beautiful, outgoing, and someone who engaged in traditionally feminine past-times. It was to their disappointment that their daughter turned out to be quite the opposite of their ideal. Much to their frustration, Veronica, or “Vee", was shy, withdrawn, and preferred to be in the company of her frog, Micaiah, rather than people, and often confined herself to her room.

In her room, Veronica performed all sorts of strange rituals: lighting incense, reading about the art of Divination, creating and painting paper maché masks whilst consuming large amounts of poppy seed cake. She had forsaken most company, thinking of her neighbors as boring and lifeless, her parents as conventional, and most of her family to be bothersome.

The only people who she willingly talked to were her cousins, Swan and Wolf, both for entirely different reasons. Vee had never felt awkward around Swan, and always enjoyed his calm and stoic personality, finding his muteness to be refreshing rather than annoying. Wolf always made sure to pester her, to which she would retaliate in some way. Her parents disapproved of her choice in friends, finding Wolf to be a bad influence and Swan to be slow. They had begun to grow frustrated with how their daughter was turning out to be.

At a family meal, Gilbert and Fiora expressed their frustration at Vee’s current state and advised her to, as Vee thought at the time: “Be someone else other than herself.” It was from this point on that the young girl began to take up the habit of mimicking people, not only making strangers, but her own parents, uncomfortable with her. It was at that point where Gilbert and Fiora began to lose all hope for their daughter until a tawny owl delivered a letter to their doorstep in Swansea.

In one last attempt, the two forced Veronica to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was no surprise for a person of Veronica’s temperament to resist and refuse the idea of a place where she would be in contact with people constantly. It was only the mention of her cousins being there that swayed her opinion.

During her time at Hogwarts, Vee still chose to mimic people and instantly earned infamy and some mockery. Her appearances in public became rarer, and apart from classes, one could only find her cooped up in her dorm room or reading books on how to better train her third eye, something she is convinced she has. (In reality, she does not possess such an extraordinary power.)

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: I'm not going to badger you about that.

Personality: Quite the oddball, Veronica -- or "Vee", as she is affectionately called -- mimics a person's behaviour and mannerisms (including their voice) well, regardless whether they are a close family member or a stranger. Her act of mimicry continues until the conversation with that person ends. Her reasons for this stem from a combination of wanting attention and amusement, along with viewing herself as a boring person.

She exhibits hermitic characteristics, preferring to remain alone in the company of her frog, Micaiah, constantly trying to hone her Divination abilities. While mature and collected for her age, she tends to have a childish side that comes out in certain moments. While the art of Divination comes to her naturally, the art of making friends and socializing is something that continuously challenges and plagues her.

Appearance: Vee is a slender, pretty girl with a head of straight blonde hair. While her walk lacks any sort of regal finesse, she is careful and composed in her movements. Veronica enjoys wearing a cloak with a hood over her school uniform as she doesn't like it when people look into her eyes. Whenever she receives a compliment for her appearance, it is usually in reference to her gray-silver eyes, which are often compared to glass, as one can see themselves clearly without any sort of distortion.

Having been requested to find her housemate’s missing cat, Veronica was in unfamiliar and potentially territory. Her Third Eye must have been simply unreliable as the girl once dreamt of an ocelot in the Potions classroom (even though the cat in question was in no way exotic and white in color). To her disappointment, all that greeted her in the Potions classroom was the rather unsettling caretaker, Mr. Fuchs. He informed her, with his toothless grin and pleasant cologne of onions and sweat, that there was no feline on the loose or as she heard, “Ner kat hurr”.

She was determined to find the cat and not bump into Mr. Fuchs again. Thus, she set off on a midnight journey, figuring that the cat would be more active and detectable at night.

Vee was convinced that it was somewhere in the dungeon probably doing something oafish and unsophisticated like coughing up a hairball. She didn’t understand the craze for owls as they shed feathers constantly and hooted like mad. But frogs? Frogs were cute with their large eyes and they didn’t leave much mucous behind — unless they were sick or in heat. (Could frogs even be in heat?)

She glanced down at Micaiah, her trusty amphibious companion, who seemed to be in a trance-like state. The frog’s mouth was wide open and its eyes were wide and fully dilated. Vee was then startled by a voice in the darkness.

“H-h-hello?”

(A genius frog! Vee declared. Micaiah probably had the power of foresight and knew that the girl had been there all along.)

“G-g-good evening,” replied Vee, her voice perfectly mimicking the other girl’s voice perfectly, “S-shouldn’t y-you be in bed?”

“Hello. Is Emma Birch here?”

“Emma Birch?” Vee’s voice changed to match the other girl’s newfound confident and sure tone.

“I’m afraid I haven’t the slightest clue of what you’re talking about. Since we’re interrogating each other, have you seen a cat?”
