Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Aislinn “Ash” MacKay

Birthday:31 August

Hometown: Belfast, Northern Ireland

Bloodline: Halfblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Charms. Ever since coming to Hogwarts, Ash has found herself taking to charms rather quickly.

Magical Weakness (pick one): Conjuring & Summoning. On the flip side, she has found that conjuring and summoning is quite difficult for her.

Year (pick two):Year 1 or Year 2

Biography:
Ash was born the second child and only daughter of Fergus and Monique MacKay, a wizard and his muggle wife. Her mother, who came from a very wealthy French family, left that all behind to marry Fergus, a wizard with nothing to his name. Six years after the two got married, they had a son named Aedan, and four years after that, they had a daughter – Ash.

Ash was a very well behaved baby, doted on by her parents and loved on by her brother. She hit her milestones rapidly, walking and talking earlier than most babies. At the age of two, her parents enrolled her into a dance class and she loved it, though at such a young age she wasn’t very coordinated.

Now, from what Ash heard from Aedan and her father, her mother had been an amazing woman. She had left a live of luxary because she fell in love, and she never once had any regret. Unfortunately, when Ash was but a toddler, the wizarding world was rocked by an unprecedented event – the Timewarp. Since Fergus was a wizard, and both Aedan and Ash had gotten magical powers from him, the three of them were sent back to 1937 – however, Monique was a Muggle so she was not taken.

Ash grew up knowing she had a mother, and that her mother loved her very much, but without a mother. She didn’t even know exactly what her mother looked like, as there were no pictures. Fergus tried his best to provide a good life for his children, but he was devastated when he lost his wife and he never truly got over it. Ash grew up without her mother and with a father mourning a mother she never even knew.

Aedan, seeing how their father was taking everything, always told Ash that they shouldn’t be sad about leaving their mother. They should be happy they got to stay with their father. Aedan told her that they shouldn’t ever let their dad see them unhappy and Ash took this to heart, which formed a big part of her personality.

On the plus side, since Ash was just a toddler when the Timewarp happened, she had no problem adjusting to the new world they lived in. Fergus and Aedan both had much more trouble, since they were old enough to understand the changes. Ash doesn’t know any better so this is just the world she lived in to her.

Ash was seven years old when Aedan went off to school at Hogwarts. She wrote to him as much as she could because she was very, very excited about going as well. She couldn’t wait to go to Hogwarts and be taught magic from someone other than what she saw from her father. Whenever Aedan came home, the two of them were closer than ever before, the siblings being more like best friends. When it came time for Ash to go to Hogwarts, her father sent her off with Aedan, giving her a big kiss on her forehead and telling her how proud her mother would have been of her.

House Request:Hufflpuff

Personality:Ash is a very outgoing girl. That’s what most people notice when they first meet her. She is willing to talk to anyone and everyone, about nearly anything. She is a a sweet girl, one who is always willing to help those around her. She actually takes great pleasure in helping other people. However, Ash can also be very naïve and much too trusting, which can lead to her getting hurt. However, she still helps people, choosing to see the good in everyone. Ash is also known to have the patience of saint, a girl who can handle nearly anything without losing her temper.

Ash is enthusiastic about things – life, love, school, anything. She’s passionate about what she loves and can talk for HOURS about a subject she’s interested in (dance or Quidditch, for example). However she’s also a very good listener and acts as a shoulder to lean on to her friends and even strangers. She likes to provide support and tries to understand where everyone is coming from. As such, she’s also a peacemaker and a people pleaser, the type of girl who will do anything to make others happy.

Ash is curious...really curious. She likes to explore the castle for secrets and likes to have a few “secret nooks” to escape to when she needs alone time. She loves to learn and as such, loves school. She is constantly trying to take in new information, and has a well of what she calls “semi-useless knowledge”. Ash loves to make people laugh – it makes her the happiest person in the room, knowing she made someone laugh. She will act as a sort of “class clown” to get people to laugh, and especially to diffuse awkward situations.

Ash could be called book-smart, but she is NOT street smart. She’s naïve, as stated previously, and tends to use emotions rather than logic when making decisions. She doesn’t always think everything through, and she is very protective over her friends or people who can’t defend themselves. However, Ash is also a coward in that she would rather talk through something than duel, and she would rather help someone escape danger rather than face it head on.

Ash can be impulsive and sometimes tends to make bad decisions based on how she feels. She’s quite sensitive, and as such, gets hurt emotionally very easily. However, as trained by her brother, emotions like that are weak so Ash tends to hide her negative emotions. She doesn’t want others to worry over her or see her as a burden so whenever someone hurts her feelings, she plasters on a smile and pretends it didn’t happen. She can come across as secretive due to that, though she really is more of an open book than a closed one.

Appearance: Ash is a small girl, even for her age. At age 11, she stands at 133 cm, and is quite scrawny. She has very fair skin, with a light covering of freckles all over her face, with the most focused on her forehead and nose. Her face is rounded, with full cheeks and a round chin. She has big, deep dimples on either side of her mouth, and her mouth itself is small with medium to thin lips. Her eyes are big and a rounded almond shape, and are chocolate brown. She has thick, wavy reddish hair that falls just past her shoulders in loose waves.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers, and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

Ash clutched her book to her chest, her head tilted to the side. She had noticed the boy as soon as he had come into the garden, and had watched him trample the poor flowers in his path. She assumed he was looking for something, and had gone over to offer to help him, when he had gotten haughty with her.

“It’s also not polite to trample across flowers,” Ash replied, a crooked smile on her face. “Is there a reason you dislike them so strongly you feel the need to kill them? No matter!” Ash didn’t wait for a reply; she dropped to her knees in the dirt, tucking a stray section of hair behind her ear. “I’m assuming you’re looking for a rat, based on your previous outburst, but you seem to be awfully allergic to these flowers. I can help you look for him if you’d like!”

Ash turned her head and smiled up at the older boy, hoping he would accept her offer. She didn’t much like seeing him have to suffer through his awful allergies. And besides, maybe if she found his rat, he'd let her play with the cute creature. “Now, how far could a rat get in the gardens...?”
