Biography:
Bailey Ashby was born on a snowy winter day into the prestigious Ashby family of America. Bailey was the second daughter of this astute family, trailing two years behind her older sister Rosalind, who was to be the perfect family heir. Though Bailey had a family, it never felt like it. Bailey, whose magic hadn’t emerged by the time she was four, was believed to be a squib. This caused her to become alienated from her sister and father, who are both being severe blood-purists. When Bailey reached the tender age of 5 she was sent to a small No-Maj school in the center of Boston. Though she tried, Bailey found it difficult to create friendships and form bonds. Bailey’s attempts at making friends were often thwarted by her crippling social anxiety and adverse thoughts that slipped into her mind. After a few weeks of complete isolation from the other students, Bailey finally made a friend in Lucy, a small shy girl in some of her classes. Lucy enjoyed spending her free time in the school library, where she had met Bailey. Despite gaining a first, true friend, Lucy couldn’t help much against the bullies. Bailey took the torment every day and never truly showed how the other kids got to her. To prevent her mother from worrying she wore long sleeves and pants to cover the bruises and the scrapes that she received from her vicious altercations. One day everything got worse, while wandering through the huge empty mansion she called home she heard muttering trailing from the large wooden door to her father's office,The voices that were in conversation belonged to her father and the other to her sister who were speaking of her extraction from school. Though to most people this would sound like a blessing to get away from her tormentors, that also, to her, meant being pulled from the one place where she felt like she belonged. The next day in the school yard she experienced torment like she never had before. It all started when her father trailed behind her on her way into school, casting such a huge shadow over her and her sister that Bailey had felt invisible. Her father ignored her and basically rushed past her, Rosalind trailing close behind. Kids stared at her and laughed at the poor girl whose father didn’t care about her, and threw insults about how she was “daddy’s little girl” even though it was far from true. Though the harassment only consisted of taunts in the morning, it reached its peak at noon. Wandering out to the school’s well manicured courtyard for lunch, Bailey sat beneath a large tree and closed her eyes to attempt to clear her clouded mind. Her relaxation lasted only so long before a shadow passed over, causing her deep brown eyes to flutter open. Blinking against the sunlight Bailey only saw a shift of movement in the shadows as a foot came flying into her stomach. Stunned, she lay in a fetal position on the ground on the verge of tears. Bailey felt a sudden, foreign energy surge through her. Taunting quickly followed the kick and with each word the energy grew. The last words Bailey found the voices faded away until the strange power grew enough for Bailey to let out a blood curdling screech and a ring of fire spread through the courtyard with her at the center. Bailey watched in abject horror as people ran from the flames. In her last moments of consciousness Bailey watched as her father ran towards her through the infero.
The next two years were a blur; the Ashbys found themselves having to flee the country. They were on the run and constantly in danger. Though she was no longer invisible, she was now hated by her family, which if you ask Bailey, was much much worse than the previous neglect. After settling in London, it was only a week passed before her letter to hogwarts came in the mail. Scared, and also a tad excited, Bailey packed her bags and made herself ready for an adventure.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request: Hufflepuff (This is my pottermore house and it is the one I feel most connected to and comfortable in)

Personality: Bailey is the kindest person you will ever meet, intelligent in the ways of No-Majs and wizards alike. She finds the ability to connect with anyone easy, if given the chance. In the early years of her life, she was rarely acknowledged by her family or her peers, save for her mother who raised her alone from age five, causing her to have developed slight social anxiety and a drive to make everyone she meets feel happy and needed. Due to the little attention she got as a child, Bailey relied on books and art to keep her going and to make her happy. Bailey who is a very talented artist, has a love for charcoal and pencil art that depict people and distant lands that spring from her imagination and the books she finds herself engulfed in during her spare time. Bailey has had some hard truths thrust upon her in her life, that have payed forward into her positive attitude towards every person she meets. Bailey will sometimes find herself grappling with her self worth and the way she feels when she looks in the mirror, though words of encouragement from her mother and others tend to chase those negative thoughts away. Though she is extremely shy, Bailey is very talkative around what friends she manages to make. She is extremely loyal to those she loves. She would never double cross a person in need, especially one of her few friends she managed to form bonds with in school and on the run. Bailey has a constant drive to be better so that maybe, her father and sister would love and value her as a member of the family. Her view on the world is one of silver linings, regardless of the situation, there has to be a positive. Bailey’s alliance to the ones she loves is a driving factor in why she is a valued friend that attracts positive energy. Most of her friends refer to her as the local therapist due to her ability and love to listen and help with all problems that her friends come across.

Appearance:
Bailey is on the shorter side, barely reaching the 5’ mark that she had always aimed to get to, though she makes up the lost height in the two inch black heels that she slips comfortably into each morning. She usually keeps her hair tied up in a messy bun or ponytail because when it is not in a hair tie, it trails to her waist and has a tendency to fall in her face while she is trying to focus on her studies. Her hair is light brown with gold and red highlights that she takes pride in, especially in the summer when all you can see is a new flicker of color as the sunlight moves across the back of her ponytail. Bailey’s skin is a porcelain color that contrasts nicely to her dark chocolate eyes and red lips that she inherited from her mother. Her face is nicely framed by her side bangs that get pinned back when she is hard at work on anything from a new art project to her academics, and by her reading glasses that she is constantly breaking. Bailey usually wears a simple coat of mascara in the morning to elongate her already beautiful eyelashes and if necessary some foundation, though she rarely finds time to do makeup in the morning. Bailey’s face is rounded out by the slight baby pudginess that she has carried since early childhood. Her body is relatively curvy and though many people believe it is fine, she has been looking at diets and exercise that she believes will make her thinner.
Bailey is usually found in old sweaters that slip off her shoulder and torn blue jeans that she has a tendency to wear multiple times without washing. You will rarely see her without a book with her, and if you were to ever ask, her eyes will light up as she explains the story. She always wears a silver locket given to her by her mother which falls gracefully between her prominent collarbones. Bailey rarely goes to them, but if she is dragged along with her family or friends to a formal event, she always relies on her trusty black dress which clings to her upper body and flows in a graceful fashion from her waist down to her knees and slowly extends to the floor as it runs around the back of her body.

”Hello?” The sudden voice caused the already frightened Bailey to squeal, which resulted in her stepping on her robe and fall onto the dark stone dungeon floor, sending her favorite book flying into the air and land with a thud which caused her to flinch as she blew her bangs away from her face. “ Owwie... “ she groaned as she slowly transitioned to a seated position rubbing her now injured knee.
“Is Emma Birch here?” a fearful voice exclaimed once again. It echoed eerily up and down the corridor. Emma Birch? For some reason that name sounded familiar to Bailey what was it from? Scanning her memory she realized that Emma Birch was none other than one of the many ghosts that haunt hogwarts. Why would a person be looking for a ghost down here? Standing slowly Bailey mustered enough of her confidence to collect her books before wandering down the dim hallway looking for the source of the voice. Clinging tighter to her book with every step, Bailey soon found herself rounding the corner only to be met with the desperate gaze of a small blond girl whom she assumed was a first year, same as her. The red and gold glint of her tie in the dim torch light indicated that she was none other than a young Gryffindor. Why in the world would a Gryffindor be in the Dungeons? “Hello? Why are you down here,” Bailey asked, trying to seem secure with the situation, even if she herself was afraid of the dark dungeon where she had only ventured to once before to visit her sister. Bailey continued “ Come on, I can take you as far as the Gryffindor common room but no farther, I need to get to the Slytherin common room before lights out, ok?” Bailey began to walk slowly back down the corridor the way she came, only looking back once to see if the girl followed her through the damp dungeon.
