Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Growing up in Portsmouth, I never really felt like I fit in. I bet you get that a lot. Yeah, I had a few friends, but I always felt ...  different. I wasn't always a super model. I suffered from childhood obesity, although I wouldn't say I was suffering. I quite enjoyed myself. However, some of the meaner kids at school dubbed me Portly Paul. "Portly," due to my weight and being from Portsmouth. And "Paul," well, because my mum used to cut my hair, and it was always a wee bit too short, which tended to make me look like a boy.

Mum (Virginia) is a loving gal. She has always tried to overcompensate for my pop's lack of attention to me. Usually when I go home to visit, she buys me things or bakes me treats, which didn't help my weight problem. She never really seemed to achieve greatness in her life, and she kind of lived through me. I like her alright. I can talk to her about anything, especially since she is a pretty passive listener. She doesn't like to stir the water, which pop likes.

Pop (Ernest) works a lot of overtime as a manager of a local market. He doesn't know much about me, but he seems to really enjoy spending time with my older brother, Gene. He also likes football, and I think he despises that mum bought me things a lot.

Gene is my older brother. He's pretty nice to me; although, he doesn't stand up for me at school. Kids will call me names or just blatantly make fun of me, but he'll just act like he doesn't hear. He plays football, but he's not particularly good at it. I'm also pretty sure he has a crush on a boy. I can't prove that, though. He's married, but he's not really interested

Option Two -
The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:
Paula F Klein wasn't in much of a hurry. In fact, she rarely was. Most of her friends from school had moved to interesting places or worked intense occupations. Paula lived by herself near Diagon Alley and was trying to find work as a photographer. She had no reason to hurry. She thought she might go door-to-door, offering her services to some of the stores to which she had become quite faithful.

This would have been a grand plan, but her first stop was The Ice Creamery. Paula had lost quite a bit of weight since the days of being dubbed "Portly Paul." Maybe it was her slow puberty process that kept her thinner than she could have been. Whatever the case had been, many more stops into food shoppes like this would quickly add grams to her gams.

After eating more than her fill of creamed ice snacks, Paula made her way out into the cold, snowy alley. She wasn't too sure of where to go next. Her brain power quite possible had been frozen solid. She began idly walking back towards home.

"Coming through! Coming th---arrgh!"

Paula felt something hit the back of her head. It was ridiculous. She fell forward. Her arms weren't prepared for such a speedy journey and were, therefore, unable to make it up in time to prevent her face and body from colliding with the ground.

I am so sorry! This blasted snow!"

Paula modestly lounged with her face on the ground, arms stuck under her not-so-daunting girth. "M'it's m'okay," she mumbled. Slowly, she rolled about, until she got to her side. Putting her arms out, she tested their mobility. "Ahhh, yes. They're working, still."

She rose to her feet awkwardly, turned to the gentleman who had apparently given her the slip, and attempted to help him gather his belongings. "I'm Paula F Klein, good squire." Her teeth showed as her mouth began a smile.

Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.
Name: Adonis Blythe

Birthday: June 6, 1969

Hometown: Tinworth, Cornwall

Bloodline: Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one): Divination

Year (pick two): Fifth, Fourth

Biography:
Adonis Blythe, youngest child and only son of the most pure Augustus and Arcelia Blythe and brother to Acacia (20), Acantha (20), and Angerona (18), grew up in Tinworth with a great number of his pure relations. Delphinus the Elder, the patriarch, has always shown great favor to Adonis as the first pureblood great-grandson. The other males of his generation were born with sullied blood, which obviously delivered much shame to the grand name of Blythe. Being such a welcome addition to the Blythe family has brought with it a love for the ideal and the perfect. Flawless is how life must be.  After all, Adonis has been mildly spoiled as the youngest sibling.

Much to his father’s chagrin and his mother’s entertainment, the three sisters have babied “Donnie” and often used him as their life-size dress up doll. On many an occasion throughout his childhood, the sisters would plan a majestic after-dinner show for the relatives who still cared for the theatrical arts, where they’d cast their “Donnie” as the handsome hero or, infrequently, the lovely “lass.” His father feared the other males in the house would shun Adonis for being gallivanted about in women’s attire; however, Delphinus the Elder found it quite humorous and often left the “theaters” he attended in high spirits.

Acting, and all that went with it, came quite natural to Adonis. His cousins were often disciplined for his misdeeds when he would craft the most wonderful lies and illusions for his family. His natural flair for lying pulled him out of many awkward situations. His favorite and the easiest way to deceive others was to be around Pippa and simply scream for someone to help because she was “being mean” to him. In reality, he would just be bored and wanted to see the dull girl get punished for nothing.

There was no doubt that Adonis would receive his owl prior to first year. His parents sent him off to Hogwarts with no real high hopes because they honestly didn’t care much for Hogwarts. His sisters had suffered through the education and graduated, and anything he did would be okay with them. He, on the other hand, would grow quite frustrated with himself over his early years at Hogwarts if he couldn’t be the first in his class to, for example, fly on a broom or create a potion correctly. He was hardly first in his class. While many things may have come naturally to Adonis, those that didn’t were an irritant and often needed to be reviewed if they were even necessary. By this year, he’d accepted that he would not be as flawless as he’d planned, which has increased his bitterness and attitude.

His obnoxious cousin Zillah also lives in the grand estate. Early on, he befriended her, and his parents often jested of their marriage. They were good friends until Adonis grew embittered and picked on Pippa more frequently. They habitually caused quite a row, when their tempers flared upon each other like a hot coal. At home, though, Delphinus “knew” Zillah was simply jealous of Adonis’ birthright.

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Slytherin

Personality:
Adonis is an arrogant jerk who is used to getting his way. While he sometimes taunts the weaker students, he has a soft spot for them. His hatred for the imperfect stirs up less compassion frequently, though. However, his emotions and beliefs are quite hypocritical, since he, himself, cannot be as perfect as he desires. Thus, he can often be found trying to comfort others in pain when he is hurting.

Appearance:
Adonis is athletic and handsome.

Adonis was proud to be wearing the green and silver scarf, supporting his house's Quidditch team. This day was a momentous day! Slytherin had won the Quidditch Cup! He looked around at his mates, as they started a new victory chant. He loved these people. They deserved to beat those fool Hufflepuffs. "How could a Hufflepuff team EVEN make it to the final of the Quidditch Cup?"

He looked around and saw the cry-baby loser, stomping away. This was his chance. Adonis had noticed James was beside himself after he dropped the Quaffle. He broke away from the chanting and ran after James.

"WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!"

Adonis felt pity for this weeping second year. Of course he'd seen a loser before. What did James think Adonis was looking at? He simply looked a fright. Looking directly into the teary eyes, he stammered, "J-James, you did your b-best." He was surprised by how sincere his voice sounded. James wasn't an ugly boy. That's for sure, but he was definitely weaker than he needed to be. "It just so happens that 'your best' is pretty awful. I mean…" A look of 'sincere' sympathy swept across his face as he pointed to the other student's hands. "You've got tiny hands, bud. You're just not as coordinated as last year's Hufflepuff keeper, either." Adonis knew he had to word this correctly to dig directly into his heart. "I mean, you'll never be as great as Seamus O'Reilly. He led your house to three consecutive cups, and all you've done is…well…"

Adonis stepped closer to the failed keeper, putting his hands on James' shoulders. "You've screwed things up royally. I wouldn't be surprised if you get doused in vinegar when you try to get into your common room tonight." Adonis hoped he had lured this sucker into a false sense of comfort. "With those butterfingers, you'll probably mess up how your password." His tone suddenly became quite cheery, "But listen, if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here for you, bud."

He patted James on the cheek lightly and walked off for his own common room. His emotions were suddenly mixed. He loved tormenting James, but there was something else he felt. He felt it the moment he laid eyes on James. His pulse rushed. His heart fleeted. His face flushed. What was that feeling? It was fervent as a flame, but does it have a name? Adonis couldn't quite be sure of what his feelings were for the ruddy Hufflepuff.

When I become friends with someone, I stand up for them, when needed. Even when some of my friends may be acting weird and trying to fit in with other groups, I don't bad mouth them, since I know they're just trying to figure themselves out. I can't stand that I get made fun of for something I can't really control. That isn't fair. When I grow up, I hope people treat others more equal and just.

Not being from a family familiar with witchcraft, I was utterly surprised when I received my letter. At first, I thought it was a joke that someone from school was playing on me, but then, I realized no one from my school is that clever.  Thankfully, my mum is excited to go shopping with me to get prepared for my new school. Pop isn't really that thrilled. He'll probably have to work, anyway.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Please include these sections if they are not addressed in your biography.

Personality:
My favorite food is snack cakes. They're so convenient and sweet to a t. I don't care for spinach and tuna salad. I like to hang out with my friends and enjoy a little bit of gossip, as long as it isn't at my or my friends' expense. On a good day, I can be a bit of a Chatty Charlie, excitable and fun-going. On a bad day, I don't really feel like doing anything. The world seems like it's against me and there's no use in putting in the effort to make it a good day. Normally, I'm a Positive Pat, always seeing the bright side of things.

Appearance:
I'm a short, hefty girl. My mum used to cut my hair just a bit too short, leaving me looking like a boy in my premature state. I have some low self-esteem and insecurities due to  suffering from childhood obesity, but I'm coming out of that. Some days, I snap back in anger at people who pick on me. Other days, I keep walking, trying to ignore the taunts.

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY

*** Remember, you can only roleplay your own character's actions, not James' or Astrid's.

Option II:

“Oh, come now!"

Astrid Bixby’s voice carried down the corridor, the tall blonde girl not far behind. Her interviewee – or victim, depending on perspective – turned a corner and she frowned. They were always soelusive when she needed them. Sure, they would talk as if there was no tomorrow during class, but once she actually needed them to say something, they were nowhere to be found. Gryffindors.

Flustered, Astrid stopped in the middle of the corridor and stared, her parchment hanging limply from her hand. She was a good reporter, really, and she always did her best to make sure that everything she wrote was accurate. She glanced down to the quill, eyeing it with disdain. It wasn’t her fault if her quill misquoted. How was she supposed to know? It made for interesting articles, at least, and if she had misquoted the Head Boy last term as saying he had a love for stuffed animals, then that gave him personality. Astrid sighed.

A pout formed on her lips as she turned away, discouraged. The corridor was mercifully empty, though the doors to The Spellbound – the school newspaper – were ominously closed. Corbridge was a mercifully sweet editor, but Astrid was terrified of disappointing her all the same. She had to come back with quotes.
Her eyes, blue, trailed her surroundings before choosing a new path, and she turned down a new corridor. A figure was ahead, and her eyes lit up, an impossibly rosy smile blossoming across her lips.

“Hey!” Astrid called, her voice light and singsong. She trotted to catch the person, her shoes clicking on the stone floor. “Wait up! It’s for the paper!” Her legs aided her admittedly poor running, and Astrid gasped as she came closer. “What do you think about serving frog legs at lunch? Some say it’s a delicacy, but others think it’s plain gross.”

Sample Roleplay Response: Type in your response here.
As she slowly waddled down the corridor, Paula Klein was relishing her third snack of the day, a somewhat melted Mars bar she found in her jacket pocket. She stopped every couple steps to take another bite and recall her prior snacks of the day. She had a Bit O Honey when she woke up, before getting out of bed, and she secretly nibbled on a hunk of cheese in potions class. "That was some ripe cheddar," she said to herself.
“Hey! Wait up! It’s for the paper!”
She heard the click clack of shoes closing in on her and tucked the rest of the candy in her mouth, right quick, accidentally smudging a little chocolate about her lips. Paula turned and looked up and gawked at the skyscraper of a girl.
“What do you think about serving frog legs at lunch? Some say it’s a delicacy, but others think it’s plain gross.”
Paula, finished masticating her latest find before replying, "Frog legs are delicious any time." With that, she turned on her heels and walked off. She had just remembered why she was walking down the hallway in the first place. She was looking for Pippa, Lars, and Sandy to tell them about her idea for their next adventure.
