Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Edward's childhood was an uneventful one, he was a brave young firebrand who was born in the wrong time. If Edward was born in the 1740's he would have been right at home among the tea throwing Bostonians, however he was born in 1914. The year Edward was born, his father was shipped off to fight on the eastern front to fight the German war machine. Edward's father was killed in action in 1918 before he was even able to set eyes on his son. Edward lived with his mother and his abusive stepfather, resulting in him acting out against his family as a way of declaring his independence against them. After finishing school at Hogwarts he became an aimless drifter, gaining repeat offender status in terms of the legal system. However everything in Edward's life changed when he met his father's commanding officer at one of the bar's he was drinking at. The Commander told him that his father died a hero, saving the rest of his squad from a grenade by throwing himself on top of it.  At the end of the whole discussion, the Commander asked Edward to enlist, which he did. To put it lightly, Edward was not a favorite of the Command, his reckless attitude and propensity to look without leaping often landed him in hot water. The fact that Edward looked at orders as polite suggestions also didn't go over well with the top brass. The only reason Edward made it to Captain was so that they could put him in charge of Battalion f. The nickname of Battalion failure, because all of the difficult cases, (such as Edward himself) were sent of to. However instead of failing the responsibility as his superiors intended, he rose to the occasion and commanded his men valiantly. However in his most recent battle shrapnel went into both of his eyes, wizards were able to extract the shrapnel and heal his eyes, but not to restore vision. Unable to perform any duty in the military, Edward received an honorable discharge, which he will be notified of once he wakes up in the hospital.

Option Two -
The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:
Edward got up, picking up his seeing eye cane "don't worry about it" said Edward "I couldn't see where I was going either" he said making light of his blindness.  Edward wasn't the kind to get depressed over loosing something like his sight, for him it was just a new challenge to overcome. It hadn't been very long since he lost his ability to see, and it wasn't very easy using his cane with so much snow about.

"It's probably my fault anyway" said Edward, "it's really hard to get around with so much snow on the ground." Even if it wasn't his fault, it wasn't like there was much of a reason to have this old fella feel all guilty about something. Also since he had lost his eyesight people almost seemed to pity him, something he wasn't a giant fan of.

"From what it sounds like, you're moving something heavy, I'd offer to assist you but I don't think I'd be much help" said Edward. One of the great upsides of the sympathy people felt for him was that it often meant he was never asked to help out with difficult tasks. If someone needed something moved, or if someone needed something washed, they would never ask him. Edward wasn't sure if the old man fell into this category but even if he didn't it's not like it would be terribly difficult for Edward to lift a box.
