Hi Keziah!

Your application looks great! However, there is one small detail to fix in your roleplay sample. At the very end, you have Keziah walk away. We prefer that you treat these samples the same way you would treat a thread, leaving the door open for a hypothetical Janey to respond. By leaving immediately, there is no room for interaction between the characters. This can be fixed by merely removing the last few sentences of your sample.

Once you have done so, please respond to this thread with your entire revised application and we'll be happy to give it another look!

Hi Viv and welcome to the site!

I love your app and can't wait to see how Viv makes her way through our magical world. However, there is one small detail to fix in your roleplay sample. At the very end, you have Viv walk away fromt he interaction. We prefer that you treat these samples the same way you would treat a thread, leaving the door open for a hypothetical Joshua to respond. By leaving immediately, there is no room for interaction between the characters. This can be fixed by merely removing the last few sentences of your sample.

Once you have done so, please respond to this thread with your entire revised application and we'll be happy to give it another look!

Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Hi Max!

The edit button is disabled for applications (it just makes it easier for admins to process your app if we know it won't be edited halfway through reading it) but I've gone ahead and edited the offending phrase to "wizarding shenanigans" for now.

Another thing I'd like to address, in your magical levels, you list Max's Divination level as 'A'. We use a fully numerical system for levels (see mine below my profile pic, as an example). I assume the confusion stems from the ability table on our Magical Rules page? If that is the case, then a full row of A abilities corresponds to a Divination level of 2.

If you could make that change to your levels, and if you would like to change the phrase I edited to something else, rather than edit your application, we would have you respond to this thread with your entire revised application.

Once that's done we'll be happy to take another look! Please let me or another admin know if you have any questions.

Archived Applications / Re: Maximilian von Abensberg

Hi Maximilian!

Your application looks great, however, you state that Maximilian was born on 18 September 1953. For a second year in 1965, the correct date of birth would be 18 September 1952. You can always refer to our Birth Year Chart for a detailed breakdown of birthdates for every year.

Once you have corrected the date, please resubmit your entire revised application and we'll take another look. Thank you!

Hi Leah, and welcome!

Your application looks great, but it seems like you forgot the 'About You' section at the very bottom. Please copy/paste the following into your application, then post your entire revised application below and we'll be happy to take another look.

Code: [Select]
→ ABOUT YOU.

Please list any characters you have  on the site (current and previous):

How did you find us?:

Also, in your roleplay sample, you mention Leah as a Gryffindor. You don't need to change this, just keep in mind that though we do our best to accommodate your house requests, these are not guaranteed and your character may end up being sorted elsewhere.

Archived Applications / Re: Seren Yukimura Application
« on: 03/12/2020 at 22:03 »
Hi Seren!

Let me start out by saying that I absolutely love Seren and his unique background! However, there are a few details which will need to be addressed before your application can be accepted.

First, if your're hoping for Seren to be a first year as your first choice, his birthdate is one year off. He would have been born in 1949 rather than 1950. You can take a look at our handy birth year guide for reference.

Second, in your role play sample, you state that Seren knows how to use the 'dancing feet spell'. As per our Magical Rules this spell (Tarantallegra) requires fourth year levels. Even with Charms as his strength, as a first year, Seren would only have a Charms level of 2 and thus would be unable to pull off such a spell. Please either remove the reference to this spell or choose another. For example, Locomotor Mortis or Locomotor Wibbly might achieve similar results!

Once you've made the required changes, please repost your entire revised application as a response to this thread and we'll be happy to take another look! I know we have quite a few rules and it might be a lot to take in, so if you're ever unsure about anything, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Hi Pierce!

You application looks great and all the requested changes seem to have been addressed. However, your levels now amount to a total of 36, therefore 4 points beyond the allotted 32 points. If you could please remove those extra points and reply with your entire revised application, you should be all set.

Thank you!

Hi Marie!

Your application is coming along nicely! However, there's one small detail in your rp sample that will need to be changed. You state that Marie fixes Amelia Nixon's broken shoe. Fixing, breaking, or otherwise altering an object belonging to another character is considered a mild form of powerplaying. Since Amelia is not a real character, and you can't ask their permission for the reparo spell to be successful, you could instead frame the action as an attempt (ex: "Reparo." She said while pointing her wand at the shoe, hoping to see it fixed.) This would give Amelia the opportunity to decide whether or not her shoe was fixed, or if she would prefer it remained broken.

Also, you've only used up 28 of your allotted 32 magical adult levels. You are free to add in the extra 4 if you wish, though this is entirely up to you.

Once you've made the required change, please post your entire revised application below and we'll be happy to give it another look.

Thanks!
